“Have Had Better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. The room did not have a refrigerator or a DVD player. It was a fair walk to the Falls. The pool area was very small. It was decent enough for a night or 2 but definitely would not stay for an extended vacation. There were no maps or information on where things were such as a beer store or liquor store and no take out menus or options to order in. We looked in the phone book and chose a greek place to deliver to us, the food was amazing! We had leftovers the next day and I was sick that night which I think may have been the cause of not having anywhere to refrigerate the leftovers the night before. I was really looking forward to eating at ihop but was disappointed, it wasn't any different than any other restaurant and it was pretty expensive even with the $10 coupon we had plus they don't serve toast with your meal which I thought was odd.

Just returned this weekend from the Ramada Niagara Falls. Stayed 3 nights Thurs-Sunday. Purchased a package deal through travelzoo for $115 for 2 nights and then paid $62 (AAA rate) for 3rd night.

Overall, hotel was decent. Check in was pretty good, and front desk was helpful throughout stay. Room overall was clean, only "negative" was the tub area. There was several moldy areas a simple bleach spray would have cured. Overall though I was comfortable with room and I can be pretty picky....walked around barefoot no problem, and sheets and beds were very clean. Room was basic, no safe in room. Had little coffee/tea maker in bathroom. We had room 820, so no one above us (8 floor hotel), had view of parking lot. Hotel does not have any view of falls, as it is too far away, and more importantly there is a much larger hall across the street that blocks any potentail veiws. Bed was very firm and pillows very soft, so/so for sleeping in my opinion. Individual temperature in room worked well. Doors to rooms close very hard, and very loud - if trying to sleep can be annoying if close by.

Hotel does have a pool, exercise room, and game room of some sort, but didn't use or see any of these. Also has an IHOP on site.... which brings we to my next point.

Food is STUPID expensive in Niagara Falls, and the "package" with coupons for Keg, IHOP, and Outback from this hotel only ease the pain a little. Only ate in the on site IHOP once, as breakfast for 2 was over $25 even with $10 off!!! I had 3 pieces of french toast (no meat or anything else), my husband had 3 pancakes with bacon, and he had coffee and I had water and bill was $35 total ($25 after discount). CRAZY! We found an all you can eat breakfast buffet for $6.99 just on the corner 1/2 a block from the hotel with drinks it was $10.00 per person but at least you got tons to eat and choose from, much better.

Used Outback $20 off coupon and still spent $60 for dinner. This was high compared to prices at a normal Outback, but at least we got a steak and prime rib dinner for it. Did find many other restaurants out Lundy's Lane heading West away from the river, everything you could want. McDonalds, Taco Bell, Burger King, Red Lobster, Arbys....and many, many more. Ate out hear and the prices seemed better.

2 DAy WEGO bus pass we got as part of package was GREAT! Stop is right outside the hotel and is nice to get around without dealing with parking and driving.

All in all, coupons aren't worth the extra for the package, but overall for what we paid for our stay including a decent room..... 3 nights for around $200 isn't too bad. Be advised parking is an extra $12 per day!

The 2 rooms we stayed in were decent. They were not spectacular but one can get decent sleep. The bathrooms and shower heads are outdated and are in need of some better lighting. The beds are comfortable and the rooms were clean.

The pool area is small and undesirable to swim in. My kids didn't mind how cold the water was. Most of the other guests couldn't take the cold water for more than a minute and quickly got out. The work out room area was terrible and that is being kind. Most of the equipment were in great need of repair as they did not properly work.

The front desk seems ill prepared for the packages the hotel offers. Check in took about ten minutes per guest. The 2 individuals at the front desk prepared each package as the guests checked in. One would figure these packages would already be put together the night before during slow times.

Parking is $12.00 a day for each vehicle. Parking and tax are paid at check out. We paid another $58.00 for parking one vehicle 2 nights and for the 2 night stay in 2 rooms.

The vouchers I bought for $95.00 at T________.com included the following: CA$40 credit at The Keg Steakhouse & Bar , two CA$10 credits at the on-site IHOP restaurant (each valid towards purchases of $25 or more), CA$20 credit at Outback Steakhouse (valid with purchase of 2 entrees), CA$25 game-play card at Dave & Buster’s ($2 activation fee not included), 2 passes for citywide attractions, casino and Falls shuttle (WEGO).

What it really adds up to:
1) CA$40 credit at The Keg Steakhouse & Bar: Two dinners have to be purchased in order to get the credit. These people let us use 2 vouchers and get sandwiches for dinner even though it was not on the dinner menu. They were very kind and deserved the great tip given to them. Plus you eat while overlooking the falls.
2) two CA$10 credits at the on-site IHOP restaurant (each valid towards purchases of $25 or more): Kids meals start at $8.99, adult meals start $12.99 and drinks start at $3.50. After the voucher was used, we had spent $80.00 and that's with each of us sharing meals. To ad insult to injury the food was terrible.
3) CA$20 credit at Outback Steakhouse (valid with purchase of 2 entrees): Didn't use because it was also way over priced for food. They were not as kind as The Keg with dinner options. Why limit our family when there are places to eat away from the falls area that are much cheaper and just as good and filling.
4) CA$25 game-play card at Dave & Buster’s: The only legit place to go and they offer reasonable meal packages for the family.
5) 2 passes for citywide attractions, casino and Falls shuttle (WEGO): It was not in the booklet of coupons they gave me. The hotel, for some reason, stated it was not part of my package and then insisted it wasn't. I went to my room and looked at the voucher that I had brought (an extra one in case they pulled a stunt like this as they had taken the original at check in). Once I showed them the voucher they reluctantly gave me the passes.

Get the packages from Marriott on the Falls or Embassy Suites on the Falls. They give you your money's worth and are well prepared with great service. I go every year and never will I go to any other hotels again. The Ramada makes their package look cheap and then overprices the food at IHOP. Marriott and Embassy Suites are not so conniving.
