“Wonderful Experience”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

Husband 62, Wife 57. Third floor queen room was beautifully decorated with cherry wood furnishings and was exceptionally clean. Larger than expected TV, 3 chairs, large wooden desk, 2 lush bathrobes. Room had separate sink area with mirror which we appreciate. Service was 5 star with the front desk staff being very helpful with answering all our questions about the area. Room was quiet and cleaned daily. We had the chateaubriand for dinner and it was wonderful! Our waitress was friendly and made suggestions for things to see outside of the "falls" during our stay. Posting signs on how to get to the third floor would be helpful even though the front desk gave us verbal directions. This hotel has an old world charm not found in modern skyrise hotels today. Prices were very reasonable. Note: The 10 min. short-cut walk to the falls is down a path that I would not recommend for parents with strollers or those with an unsteady gate. It is bumpy and not a poured concrete side-walk. Stick with the side-walks that are also available.

This is an older hotel, rather run down with a dark lobby and hallways. Our room had a windwow into a pool area so not bright. Bathroom had been updated. Carpets were stained and the rooom had a slightly musty smell. The air con. made a noise like a big truck down shifting every ten minutes or so - thus no air con. while you slept. Lots of nosie from the hall at night as people came into the hotel.
Listed as a three star but closer to a 1.5

Room Tip: Seek one with an outside windoew and as little hall way traffic as possible -end of a hall perhaps.

We stayed here and things were fine. The room was pretty clean. Definately not a cookie-cutter hotel, it's original. Being an older hotel, it was dated. It was a little dark and had a bit of a spooky feel to it. The hotel seems to be on the outskirts of the main attrations, but was a short walk to everything we wanted to see and do. Pool was alright as well.

We just stayed one night. Room was dark unless you had the curtain opened. The place is dated, but clean. We didn't eat in the dining room so I can't comment on the restaurant. It's fine if you like older hotels.

Room Tip: This place was fine for a night. No fee for parking.

We traveled here and were totally in awe at the charm and beauty of this inn. The inn is not new, therefore if you are the type who needs everything to be shiny and new, pass this up for the 25 story behemoths on the cliffside. But if you appreciate charming old world style this is the place for you! Three stories, indoor pool and hot tub, pub like lounge and a beautiful dining room all add to the Inn's charm. It is not a motor lodge, it is a beautiful inn such as you would see in the British countryside.

We fell in love with the room. We had an executive/honeymoon suite on third floor overlooking the indoor pool. King bed, whirlpool tub, gas fireplace, two baths, and a living room with a second television and seating for four made the room seem as good as home.

The meal choices in the dining room are all terrific. The Chateaubriand for two is fantastic! We were looking for romantic and special, and it was.

NB: The inn is not on the falls edge. It is about a quarter mile walk from the front door. Also, it is downhill to the falls, so expect to walk back uphill to return to the inn. The Clifton Hill tourist area is a half mile walk away, but there is bus service that will take you anywhere the tourists go to. Parking in the lots near the falls cost $15 Canadian, but if you park in the lots away from the falls the cost is $1.50 per hour. Thus, you can spend a lot less if you park away from the falls and stroll past the tourist traps. Mind you everything is uphill from the falls, just so you know.

If you drive into NF from the States side, Exit immediately after customs to the right.

Then right onto the Hiram St,

another right onto River Road.

Right onto Murray St. in 3/4 mile (in front of the Skylon Tower.)

Right onto Fallsview Blvd,

and right onto Robinson St. Inn immediately on the left.

Room Tip: There is not a view of the falls, but the poolside rooms are nice.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. This is my new favorite in the Niagara tourist area. The outside might turn one off as it needs some sprucing up(especially at the back of the building), but do not be fooled by the outside lack of glitz and glam. Once you walk in you are welcomed by smiling staff and a charming lobby with much character. The old rustic look is very pleasant. Once checked in my boyfriend and I were given simple directions to our room on the third floor. I am not sure what the fuss is about from other reviews, referring to the halls as a "maze". If you can read than you will be fine. The hall ways have no air conditioning but for those of you who can not see beyond your personal comfort the reason for this is it is an initiative to be more Eco-friendly, save the planet!

Once in our room we were refreshed with air conditioning and a lovely spotless clean room with a newly renovated bathroom(water pressure was awesome and the drains were not clogged) with two sinks(one just outside bathroom). The room also had a closed closet and large ceilings. We had a VERY comfortable queen bed and a cabinet with a large flat screen T.V. with ENOUGH channels given you are not at a hotel to watch T.V. all day. Their was also a sitting area with two LARGE chairs and a desk with high quality magazines. Are room had a view of the lovely indoor pool area with cathedral ceilings. We personally enjoyed this view of the water and plants and all the natural light coming from the floor to ceiling windows in the pool area below. We could also see right out to the court yard. We peaked at the restaurant, it looked very nice. We did not eat there though, maybe next time. The hotel was quiet, I would recommend this hotel to couples. NO CHILDREN! There are more child friendly hotels in the area. Oh yah, free parking and internet.

Room Tip: I stayed in the 'Executive Queen Room'. This had a newly renovated bathroom! Flat Screen T.V...
