“"Great Place to Stay.. abit on the expensive side.." Hidden Fees"”

This hotel is probably the best the Marriott has. We stay at Marriots whenever we can, and have always been happy with them . They are clean, pleasant, and in many times best bang for the buck.

Well let's start with Location:
Cant be beat. Although there is a Sheraton nearby, this hotel is gorgeous, the picture I enclosed is from the room window.
Very clean, and overall excellent.
Great amenities, nice gym, great pool, hot tub for like 15..

The bad:

They charge $20 per day for parking without telling you ahead of time..
They charge $9.95 per day for internet access, really nonsense... they need to get rid of that. I would rather them charge an extra $10.00 per day, include internet access and not tell me about it..
Dont open that bottle of water in the room, cause they charge $9.95 for each bottle of water, and it doesnt come with internet access....lol

The restaurant,,,, Their food is absolutely fantastic... but terribly expensive. We had 2 entrees, 1 soda, water, 2-coffees and split a desert, and the final bill was $145.00 Cd.
After the $75 voucher I still had a balance of $70.00cd

For 2 people from NYC, that is still expensive.. but the food was great.. and the service fantastic..

Our bill for a room on the 20th floor, with a jacuzzi, and the fantastic view, the $75.00cd dinner voucher, and 2-breakfast buffets voucher, was $645.00 US or $703.00 Cd That included the 2 day parking. ($20.00 each day)

So bottom line, we did stay on the American side for 1 day, and the Canadian side blows away the US side. The park is nicer, the falls spectacular, the hotels much better.

There are plenty of restaurants in the area, eat there if you dont have a voucher. I would also recommend the Brewery in town. There food was great and their beer was fantastic..2 of us with beer and food, $40.00 Cd

We decided to have an amazing weekend at the Niagara Falls, to enjoy the view and we were expecting to have an impeccable service, especially for a room of 450$ per night, however we had to enjoy a service of 2* hotel. We were disappointed first of all because of the service. The stuff looked busy and tired no smiles on the faces. The room was clean, but so small…the only thing that was very impressive was the VIEW on the falls. Incredible!
The parking costs 20$ per day, when on the corner you’ll find for 15$.
I wouldn’t repeat this experience again!

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel and had a great time. We had the King-Whirlpool-Fallsview room, definitely worth the price to book a higher room with amazing view. We spent so much time just sitting in front of the window with the fireplace. Check-in and out was quick and easy. Definitely recommend... Just a piece of advise, bring your own water bottles/groceries, like everything else in Niagara Falls, food/drinks can get quite pricey (ie. 1L Aquafina bottle in the room was $9.95... which is quite ridiculous in my opinion...)

Would stay here again.. :)

This hotel was a great place to stay because we could see the falls from our window and this made it easy to see the light shows every night. Since we were there to view the falls, it made sense to stay in a place offering an incredible view of both Horseshoe falls and AMerican Falls. We negotiated at the front desk for a higher room (better view) and were able to get access to the concierge lounge for the better suite which meant breakfast included and also gave us access to the dedicated concierge, snacks and free dessert. The room was a bit stale smelling but we could open the window. We did not use the pool - it was teeming with people. We did use the workout room but it was extremely limited and cramped.

Niagara is a rather tacky place in many ways but the falls are impressive and by avoiding all the amusement park type entertainment we managed to have a great time. FOr us, the most interesting parts of the trip were the Maid on the Mist and the colonial forts. Fort George was a great exursion and is adjacent to Niagara on the Lake, a sweet town where we had a picnic on the shores of Lake Ontario. We wish we had stopped on the American side for the park looked like it offered better options to see the falls up close. The Canada side has better falls views but also has a really unpleasant feature - limited ability to walk down towards the falls. This meant it could take lots of time to get to the rim and only one very touristy option of going down near the base of the river.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THE "MAGNIFICENT TOURS" which is sold in the hotel lobby. (in the lobby, the sign just says Niagara Falls Tours). There was so much BAD about it I don't know where to begin.

First, the sales pitch was very deceptive. The saleswoman told us that we would be able to avoid long waits at key attractions such as Maid of the Mist because they had priority lines for it's customers. There were no waits at all at the attraction. At the Skylon Tower, I suspect the lines for the tour bus patrons were actually longer than walk-ins.

Second, she told us that children under 5 are "free" but neglected to tell us that they don't get a seat on the bus. Our three and four year olds had to sit on our laps.

Third, the price was quoted at $120 per person but on the credit charge, it said $135 per person. Apparently, the $120 was US dollars, not Canadian.

Fourth, the bus driver was unbelievably RUDE. She made absolutely no effort help us seat our family members together. In fact, all of us, including our children (from 2 families and grandparents) had to sit all separately. We got on the bus last because no one came to get us from the lobby where we were waiting. (We got there 10 minutes before the announced meeting time). In fact, the bus driver announced that we had to stay in our separate seats for the rest of the day.

Fourth, the time allotted at the the stops were too short. The first stop was the Skylon Tower. Due to long lines to get off the tower, we barely got back to the bus on time. Unfortunately, at the next stop, lines were even worse to exit the Underground viewing deck. No priority exiting, which would have been much more useful than priority entry. Several of my family members were stuck in the line for the elevator out and then exited the wrong door which took them to the opposite side of the building away from the tour bus pick up area. We called them and when they said they were lost, we handed our cell phone to the bus driver so she could direct them to the bus, but instead she actually berated them and REFUSED to give directions. Since my family members were not all on board, the rest of us decided to get off so that we were not separated from them. As we got off, the driver told me they were still in the tunnel, which is a complete LIE, because if they were, they would not have any cell phone connection. Turns out, the bus drove right past them as it passed the other side of the building. Thankfully, that was the last we saw of the bus. We WALKED the rest of the day.

It turned out that the walk along the falls to the Maid of the Mist was a highlight of the trip. It was an easy walk even for my parents in their 70's and the 3 and 4 year old children with us. The next day we complained to the manager who refunded $90 of the $810 we paid. By the way, if we had stayed on the bus, there would have been another "voluntary" 20% TIP "suggested on a big sign at the front of the bus" for the bus driver. The only attraction that would have been a long walk would be the butterfly conservatory. If you really want to see it, take a taxi. Another reviewer said a shuttle (different from the one associated with this hotel) actually goes there.

Now, a word about the hotel. We booked and paid for a "fallsview" room. See the photos from our room 510 and decide for yourself if it is worth the premium price. The staff was efficient but not really friendly. The Starbucks stand in the lobby was reasonably priced compared to the one next door at Embassy Suites which charged double for the same pastries. ($5.50 for a muffin! Really?) Hefty $20 charge per day for parking.

Great views of the Falls -- would definitely recommend paying up to get a view (otherwise there really isn't a point to staying at this hotel). The property is at the southern end -- about 1 - 1.5 mile south of Clifton Hills.
Expensive but justifiable given the view and the touristy nature of the area.
$20 to valet park -- no self parking. Don't think there're other options. There is a bunch of $5 parking lots between the Marriott and Clifton but it's probably a 1/2 mile walk + in open lots.
Rooms are good sized and very clean.
Received 10-page fax -- charged $4.50. $9.95 daily internet charge.
A lot of nickel and diming but can't imagine it's unique to this property.
Would definitely stay here again if in the area.
Note: there's a 10%+ tax on everything so things can really add up very fast.

Recommend Peller Estates for wine tour. Inniskillin was ok but little impersonal. Peller property is much more beautiful and the tour more intimate and the Juan the guide more knowledgeable so it seemed.

Butterfly Conservatory is ok but didn't think it was worth the admissions price. Unless you have teenage kids, don't go to the Fallsview Indoor Waterpark. All in cost per person was $60 including the $18 parking. Not that it was expensive per se but not a lot of rides.

Do the Cave of the Winds (US side) -- absolutely thrilling -- better than the Maid of the Mist (good). Do Niagara on the Lake (wonderfully charming town 1/2 hr north of Niagara Falls). African Lion Safari was good but go early (1.5 hrs) to maximize time there. Again pricey but well set up.

I absolutely loved this hotel. My in-laws were visiting from Australia and wanted to go see the falls. We booked here bascially because of the price savings of the 2 bedroom suite compared to booking 2 separate rooms or 2 bedroom suites elsewhere. We had basically 2 full hotel rooms, 1 with fallsview and 2 queen beds, 1 with river view and a king bed. The view was unbeatable. My in-laws were floored when we entered the room and spent every night sitting in the chairs admiring the views.
The location is great, right by the lift that takes you down to the falls. It costs $1 per person, or free if you purchase the Niagara Adventure Pass, which was a great value.
The walk down is a little further, but not bad.
The one complaint I would have is the cost of parking, I should have self-parked at the casino next tour for $10 a day instead of $25 or 30 at the hotel. The casino is right next door, a 2 minute walk. And there were some GREAT resturants in the casino, I was glad it was so close.
Everyone was friendly. There were 2 individuals at the tour desk, one was a younger female, the other was older. The younger one was not as informed w/ the tours and area information, but the older woman was wonderfully informed and helpful. We did do the winery tour and had a great time.
I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the niagara falls area.
