“Great room, great view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2012

My husband and I stayed there during our honeymoon and we were extremely satisfied with our stay. As we were on our honeymoon, the hotel staff gave us a free upgrade to a bi-loft fallsview suite on the 16th floor which was a very pleasant surprise.

The view from the suite was awesome and we had an unblocked view of the falls from both levels of our suite. The suite was super spacious with two bathrooms (one downstairs). There was a jacuzzi next to the bed which allowed us to soak and enjoy a jacuzzi massage while enjoying the view.

We ate at the Terrapin Grille for dinner and the food was expensive but superb. My husband loved the steak and my chicken chowder was one of the best soups I had ever eaten.

We would certainly stay there again if we were to visit Niagara Falls agian.

The good points: amazing views, one friendly receptionist, a cheap upgrade to a suite, and a nice room as a result. This was off-set by a pretty sub-standard lunch in the hotel restaurant Terrapin Grill (two soups were good, two burgers arrived totally overcooked and were served while we were still finishing the soups, one salmon was OK; this, some soda, and a bottle of local wine came - after removal of the burgers that we didn’t eat - at $120!). The comment on the burgers was that the light in the kitchen was different and hence meat looked red there, when it was dark-grey at the table near the window! Other annoyances ranged from extra charges for AmEx use that were not announced when the card details were taken to fairly unenthused staff (in particular the lady who opened the lobby starbucks at 7AM). So - overall disappointing for the grade (nd cost) of this hotel.

This hotel has spectacular views of the falls. The rooms are large and airy. During our two day stay a convention was in the hotel what a disaster for the four of us. The first night it was not possible to order a drink in the bar or even by night porter ..... It was ten forty and the bar was closed to normal residents as a private convention party took over the bar and the bar on the first floor was closed.... No night porter and no drinks in the room fridge? We had to get a taxi to the casino to get a drink. The manager was not helpful and downright rude. If we visit Niagara again we will give this Marriott a wide berth.

Stayed here one night on a recent business trip ton Toronto. The staff at this hotel was great and knowledgable of the area. Had dinner in the Terrapin Grille located in the hotel and I must say probably one of the best stakes I've ever had. The breakfast buffet the next morning was great and what a selection. Omelette station a great variety of hot foods as well as fruits, cereals and baked goods. I must say the view from my room was amazing. I would definitely request a falls view room on the upper floors.

Room Tip: Falls view room on the upper floors

We were VERY careful about picking the right hotel for our first trip to Niagara Falls. The trip there was hassle free and quick - we flew to Buffalo and then drove a rental car across the border. While a lot of the hotels boasted views of the falls, reading some of the reviews on here told us otherwise. The Marriott Fallsview is definitely the closest hotel to the falls with nothing in front of it. or obscuring the view. We reserved a Superior Fallsview room, with a king bed, fireplace and whirlpool. Upon arrival at the hotel, the valet service was speedy and friendly (prepare to pay $25/day for parking). Sharlene checked us in, and she was kind enough to recommend some restaurants off the beaten path and called our room after we went up to ensure everything was up to our standards. Everyone was very welcoming and warm! We did select to do the package where you get the shuttle service, free breakfast buffet and $40 voucher for the hotel restaurant or room service. The room was incredible!!! The view was everything we thought it would be, and we had a hard time tearing ourselves away to get settled in. We loved the sliding window separating the bathroom from the rest of the room, although you can't really see the falls from the whirlpool but can see out the hotel window. We decided to have a night in and order room service and eat dinner using our own view of the falls. I've traveled a lot, and had a lot of room service...and this was the best ever. The guys running the place down there are super friendly and outgoing, and the food was to our room in less than 30 minutes. They made excellent recommendations, and our dinners were amazing. I had rigatoni and he had the veal parmesan sandwich. Plus we had some sort of rich chocolate cake for dessert which topped everything off. All while enjoying the light show on the falls that night. We woke early the next morning to watch the sun rise over the falls, which was brilliant, followed by the breakfast buffet. Strongly recommend getting to breakfast before 9 a.m.!! Everyone sleeps in and by 9:30 there is a large group waiting to be seated. Each morning we got great window seats to enjoy the view while we ate. The only down size of our stay was the shuttle. We had some drivers who weren't clear about where they did/didn't stop, and you are cooped up with all of the other tourists. We drove on our own to the Butterfly Conservatory, and really enjoyed it! All in all, this was a near-perfect weekend trip. We can't wait to return, and will definitely be making our reservations at the Marriott Fallsview! Thank you for a great stay and memorable trip.

Room Tip: Superior Fallsview Rooms are only floors 12-18, so you are guaranteed a great view of the falls. It...

Simply put, the view from the rooms can’t be beat. You look out your full window and see the falls, both the American and Horseshoe.

When the sky tram is working (closed down for the winter), you have it right outside your door.

The hotel itself is in very good shape. Rooms are nicely appointed and very clean. Staff for the most part are friendly and helpful. Rooms are large and you have everything you need. The bathrooms have a two person Jacuzzi tub and the wall opens up so you can see through the room to the falls.

The room though has a few issues. One, as others have noted is the television. Not very responsive, and lots of the channels don’t even come in. I’m not talking about speciality channels, I mean even the regular ones.

The $9.00 per day for Internet should be a thing of the past. This trip we stayed in seven different hotels and the Marriott was the only one to charge extra for Internet.

Front desk – service depends on who you get. When we checked in, I told the desk manager that I would like to change my departure (leave after three days instead of four) and he didn’t think that would be possible, even though I had a regular booking that indicated that I could cancel within 24 hours. When I brought this to his attention, he indicated that I would have to come back later. When I returned the next day, another manager had no problem in changing the departure.

Parking - $25.00 a day. The vehicles are not parked at the hotel and must be retrieved by a valet from a lot several blocks away. I did as others suggested and parked at the Casino just down the street - $5.00 for the entire four days.

Fitness room – small and only has three pieces of aerobic equipment – two treadmills and one bike. Strength equipment is a rack of dumbbells and one machine. As for some of the other reviews that there are no change rooms, that is not factual. There are change rooms, just not near the pool – they are just inside the door (took me a minute to locate them).

Maintenance and Housekeeping. We had a small issue with the safe (wouldn’t open) and the maintenance people were at the room within 5 minutes – found out that the batteries had worn down and quickly replaced them. Great service. We also phoned to ask that they change out the feather pillows, and within minutes Housekeeping showed up with non-allergenic pillows.

We also can’t say enough about our cleaning lady. Very personable and made sure that everything in the room was perfect.

The one other thing is, check your bill in the lounge before you pay it. We were part of a group sitting together around a table. Our server asked us what happened to the three gentlemen who had been sitting at a nearby table. We told him we didn’t know, that they were not with us. He told us that they hadn’t paid their bill and indicated that he was putting their tab on our bill as he thought we were together!!! He didn’t ask, just made the statement. I couldn’t believe he would even make the comment, let alone try to force us to fix his mistake. Service was also extremely slow.

Would we stay here again – probably not now that we have experienced the view. If you haven’t, it is worth the small issues that you will have to deal with. Nothing is a deal breaker, but for a high end Marriot, these issues shouldn’t be occurring.

Overall experience was pretty good. Naturally view from hotel rooms was great. Hotel staff was courteous if not overly friendly. Only complaint we had was valet parking one day smoking in our car. Thought it was a little strange when our car was delivered one morning with the windows open. Found out why when we got in. Had to drive most of the day with windows open to get the smell out which is very noticeable if you dont smoke. I have to say this was just one day out of four. Hotel was very apologetic and took two days off of valet park fee which is 25 dollars a day.
