“Don't believe the bad comments from unrealistic and hard to please people”
Reviewed January 15, 2010

My family travelled to the Best Western Cairn Croft and stayed from January 1st, 2010 until January 3rd, 2010. During the first day of our visit there was a bunch of rowdy families who loitered the courtyard. These individuals also seemed to act like they owned the place. I believe these MAY be the same people who posted some sour messages on this board.

EVERYONE who worked at the Cairn Croft was courteous and helpful. And although we did not get the room we had hoped for at first, the hotel manager went out of his way to set my family up in a room where we were comfortable and happy. Housekeeping was out in the halls early in the morning, waiting to clean the rooms. Considering this was just after New Years, and many individuals left their hotel rooms in shambles, I give great credit to the hotel and their staff for the job that they did. The restaurant food was great, kids club was awesome, and the beds were extremely comfortable. We have no complaints whatsoever and are actually going back again next month with friends.

I would recommend the Cairn Croft to anyone. And for those people who expect to be waited on hand and foot and be treated better than everyone else, I suggest you go somewhere else and pay triple the price to have your butts kissed the way you want.

My family stayed at the Best Western Cairn Croft in Niagara Falls on Lundy's Lane from Dec.31/09-Jan.2/10. We have been regulars at this hotel for some time given the set up of the accomodations works well for families with children. We booked a total of 9 rooms each room having anywhere from 3 to 4 people, so a lot of people in one group. Every year we've gone our group has gotten bigger. Given the fact that we are a "regular" group and every time we stay there our group grows, you would think we would be a little more accomodated. Each family had different issues. The toilet in one room was leaking and the maintenance people could not fix the toilet. Albeit, that couple was compensated, however, the rest of us were not. We had a child cut his foot because of glass found in the pool area. We brought this to the Hotel's attention and nothing was done about it. Not even one person came out to at least look and perhaps vaccum or clean the pool area. There was a draft coming for the exterior door into the room, which caused a whistling sound in turn not much of us got sleep, that's how loud it was. Another issue the heating was working properly, it had to be blasted to 85 degrees to warm up the room, then the temperature put back down to normal because when it was left to at normal the heat wouldn't go on. We stayed there for 2 nights, the second day we were there, our sheets weren't changed, some of our rooms not vaccumed, the coffee supply was not replenished, the coffee pot was not cleaned, nothing. I figured even though a person is staying there 2 nights, the morning after the first night should be treated as though someone new was entering the room. The rooms should be cleaned and the coffee supply re-stocked. The bags from the old coffee from the morning before wasn't event thrown out, it was just left there. I had to do more cleaning then the cleaning staff actually did. Even when the cleaners did come around to sweep or vaccum, they didn't do a very good job, they would just sweep around everyone, but did not pick up all of the dirt. We asked for clean sheets and extra pillows and were not accomodated. We even asked for the additional coffee for the 2nd morning and were told no. It's New Year's Eve weekend and we were approached by the Hotel Manager at 11pm to go into our rooms because the court yard must be cleared out. We were not making any noise at all and we were trying to enjoy the amenities of the hotel and the convenience of having a balcony indoors within the courtyard area so we could spend time with our families, which is the whole reason why we booked there to begin with, the fact that the set up is convenient for familier. The Hotel Manager's approach was actually very rude and in appropriate. We have been regulars at this hotel, however, the past couple of times we stayed there, there service was not at all up to par. It's unfortunate that something as simple as "customer service" is overlooked to that extent. We weren't even asking over and above any of the "standard accomodations" we were just asking for what we are entitled to and what we've paid for. When we submitted our concerns and comments, which was when we got home given it was New Year's weekend and we had our families we preferred to discuss it when we were back home and then emailed the Hotel Management, but of course we were told by both the Hotel Management and the Hotel Head Office that there was nothing they could because we didn't say anything to them while we were there. We may not have mentioned everything to them while we were there because there were 9 families that had to discuss the situation, but we definitely made mention of the leaky toilet, the glass in the pool, the pillows, clean sheets and the coffe request, I would say that should have been enough. We booked all 9 rooms to be together (in a row) and they gave our rooms away so some of our families were separated. So right from the time we booked, there was chaos, which we mentioned to them right then and there. So all in all what we hoped would have been a great experience on New's Eve with our families, we ended up ringing in the new year under a little bit of a stressful situation, unnecessarily.

We stayed at the Best Western Cairn Croft from Dec 31/09-Jan2/10. The rooms are nothing spectacular. Very basic and we found our room clean. We stayed with 5 other families and had booked in October. There was a request made upon booking to have all the rooms together. The hotel ended up giving away the room that we had reserved. The other families we stayed with had issues with the cleanliness of their rooms and a leaky toilet. Our friends' 13 year old son got glass in his foot from the pool. If you are staying in the winter, expect a huge draft from outside and a whisling noise from the wind through the door. After 11 pm on Jan 1st, we were all asked to go back to our rooms, which we weren't impressed with. We did order room service and it was very quick, not exceptional quality, but ok food.

This was a nice place to stay with the family in spite of some of the past reviews I read regarding the neighborhood. Yes there are some shops that sell sexy lingere and things like that-one I could see from our window. BUT.. they are discreet and nothing horrible in the windows that would embarrass me or the kids. The bus stops directly in front of the hotel and takes you right to the falls via other hotels stops. Not always on time but they do come eventually. Leave your car, the parking prices at the falls are terrible. The rooms, lobby and pool areas are all clean (I'm a former travel agent so I'm picky) and the staff is efficient and courteous and very helpful. If noise is an issue, stay away from the poolside rooms and request a tower room. Its basically a quiet neighborhood. The closer you get to the Falls, the more it starts to look like the Las Vegas Strip. You want it quiet, stay here (tower room). I would stay here again and definately recommend it.

I booked this hotel after reading the reviews on this website.
It turn out to be a nighmare for me.
The hotel was having a party at the first floor and it is so loud. The party finished around midnight. Some drunk guys yelling at corridor at around 2 a.m. We were waken up.
we called the front desk and complain the noise. The staff did show up and solved the issue. But after that, I could hardly sleep for the whole night.

We did Toronto, Niagara, New York, Philly and DC. This was the best hotel we stayed in. The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. The decor makes you feel like you're in Tuscany (and it's nicely done, not OTT), there's a computer with free internet access in the lobby, the shuttle bus stops right outside, there's a choice of eateries directly next door and opposite. Rooms are big, clean, well appointed. It's classed a 3* but felt like a higher class hotel at a 3* price. Truly impressed and would absolutely recommend. It's not near the falls, but it's better for it as that area is loud and bustling. Shuttle bus runs till 2am and the drivers are really friendly and willing to let you in on local secrets.

Only minutes from the Falls, wireless internet was wonderful, rooms cleans, staff wonderful. Can't wait to go back in winter and use the indoor waterpark.
