“Handy for the Falls”
Reviewed October 31, 2011

This is quite an expensive hotel, within easy walking distance of the Falls. NO VIEW of the FALLS
$10/Day parking charge on top of premium prices.
Our Rate included Breakfast each day and Dinner on one evening. Breakfast OK. Dinner so so!
Although we had payed for the food, we were presented with bills indicating the pre-paid charge, with highlighter pen used to indicate that Service Charge had not been included.

We were here to see a show at the casino on a Friday night and tried to find the closet place and one that was a reasonable price and found this one. When I booked I asked for a newer room, when we got there the rep was pleasant and friendly. Got to our room, very pleased, nice and clean. Balcony was over the parking lot but we didn't care about that. Only thing had a problem with was the breakfast, had to wait about 15 minutes as there were alot of people and not much room. Shared a table with another party, which we were not too concerned about as we were only going to eat light anyway (not much there). So if you want a big breakfast, do not eat at the hotel go across the street to a restaurant.

Room Tip: Ask for a newer room

On check-in I asked why my card is being swiped since my stay is already paid for, the FD said that they need to authorize my credit card for incidentals. I said that they can put it in for file and not authorize it but was informed that strictly it is needed. Disappointed. I asked for a room that would give us even a little view of the area, FD said "we don't have a view but great location" fine but there are rooms avail facing the Imax and the Skylon, well for me I consider that a view. More Disappointed. Went inside the room but it seems that the room was not used for quite sometime, the guest directory was dusty and so are the rest of the things you see in the room - tv, drawers. The picture provided in the website is not what you will see in real time. Very Disappointed. And lastly when we checked out, we asked if there is a wash room in the lobby that we can use the Lady FD said none, and commented to someone over the phone that we are one who is overly rude and if I waited for her to finish with the guest she would have helped me. How can someone who is in the verge of wanting to use a rest room wait for 5 or 10 or 15 more mins, commonsense I guess should tell you that excuse yourself from that person If you are really attending to a guest and just point to us where to go. Geez if given a another chance we will not definitely stay here again. You don't deserve the plaques posted on the wall. I have stayed in other Best Western and some of them are great but this one really sucks! And yeah they charge $10 per day for parking, just beside them only charge $3.00 and in front of them $5.00 Choose wisely. Sad to say I did not.

Room Tip: There are a lot of better hotels in the area. Choose wisely.

We booked our room online through AAA travel. We booked for a Friday & Saturday night for 4 adults with 2 queen beds, sunset view & oversized balcony. We were meeting friends who drove seperately. On our arrival, we were informed that we owed them for 2 additional adults, although our reservation confirmation that we received from them stated 4 adults were included in the price they had already billed to my credit card. The manager insisted it was policy that only 2 adults were billed & we owed an additional $58.+ for the room. We couldn't cancel & go to a different hotel because they have a policy that if you change or cancel your reservation you will be charged a 100% penalty equal to the total cost of your stay for each room. They also then informed us that they only allowed 1 parking space per room & that our friends would have to find parking off the property... another additional expense! We got to our room, which had a sunrise not the sunset view we had paid for. The rooms are spacious, but they did not spend much on soundproofing. We could hear people talking in the next room, running water & opening & shutting doors. Management did not inforce the noice restriction policy. There were people partying inside & out until 2:45 in the morning, which didn't allow us to get much sleep. The beds were very uncomfortable as well. One of the 2 room keys they issued also didn't work on the entrance or room doors. All in all a nightmare stay. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

We had a 2 night stay.

The good:
1) I chose this hotel mainly for the location. It is a short walk to the falls down a steep hill. There are many good restaurants nearby and the hotel has a restaurant.
2) The bedding was comfortable and modern.
3) Balconies--but no views beyond parking lots/traffic. I would avoid rooms with a patio.
4) Parking was nearby. We were on the 3rd floor and found a small lot next to an entrance to our floor.

The not so good:
1) The hallways were grimy, but the rooms are much better. There was grime in the corners of the bathroom. Clearly, the buildings are old, but it has been updated.
2) I found this to be of a lower quality that the typical 3 star hotel.

Room Tip: The patio rooms do not have much of a patio.

Despite the surly big unit on reception this place was a gem. We were in a rather large group and they put us all upstairs in awesome units (of roughly 500 sq ft) with balconies. It was nicer than many hotels I've stayed in where the price (and rating) was far higher. Recommended if you can get a unit like ours.

Room Tip: Upstairs unit with balcony. Four simple words.

We stayed here because it was dog friendly, upon check in, we were given the ground level, room 101, the room was very drab, poorly decorated, the beds were terrible and the elevator noise was beyond words. Everytime someone used the elevator, the motor sounded off and you could here really loudly in our room. We changed rooms upon complaining but you could still here it. Not good for a family. Also, the noise outside was constant, even at 3am....

Room Tip: Dont ask for a ground floor, don't stay near the end of the hall or the ice machine.
