Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls - Fallsview
Ranked #36 of 128 Hotels in Niagara Falls
Reviewed October 24, 2012

We stayed here this past weekend and it was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Is it old...yes! Which is certainly part of its charm. Crowne Plaza has done an amazing job with keeping the old charm of this historic hotel and make it modern and comfortable. The level of customer service was outstanding! From the front desk, to housekeeping, even the parking attendent as we left were all so very friendly and made you feel like a valued guest. Our housekeeper even made the cutest towel animals for our daughters. They loved it!

Oh and the view!! We were fortunate enough to have a fallsview room with a balcony! It was like having our own observation deck! Where else can you lie in bed and watch the falls change colors at night!

You are so close to the Falls and Clifton Hill. We parked the car and didn't have to use it again all weekend!!!

I would stay here again in a minute!! Well done!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on floors 11 or 12 if possible!

We had paid the extra for a "fallsview" room but we had press our heads against the window and look to the far right to see the falls. We had a better view of the border. The hotel wanted to charge $10 for 24hrs of internet. Besides that the hotel resturant had a nice view of the falls and was in walking distance to the falls and the amusement strip

Stayed here for one night as part of a tour. on entry the hotel lobby and reception looked stunning but everything went downhill after that the room looked like it could have done with a facelift and the very disappointing view from our room looked on to the multi storey car park just unlucky maybe but i wouldnt go back

I don't like writing bad reviews, but my stay in the Crowne Plaza was disappointing in many aspects. We had a "fallsview room" but had the very last corner room at the end of the hallway on the 7th floor so it was more like a parking lot view and had to squint and angle our bodies to see out the tiny window. The rooms are small but well decorated and the King size bed was very comfy. The biggest annoyance was the water system. Anytime someone flushed a toilet or took a shower it was very NOISY. In the morning, it was constant screeching with people getting up and showering in rooms around us, really killed the atmosphere. The room was very clean, however the water was not hot in the shower and the bathroom could use some TLC. Even with the Groupon price we paid, I was not pleased with the quality we received. The highlights of the hotel are: the lobby, great location, access to nearby services and friendly staff. We also had a wonderful couples massage at the Christienne Spa and fabulous buffet dinner at the Fallsview restaurant that I will talk about in separate posts. My advice, go find a quaint B&B in NOTL to stay at.Take the scenic drive to Niagara falls and take your pictures, but the wine country is much prettier and way less tackier than downtown Niagara.

Room Tip: We were in 722 and had a terrible view, ask for a room at the other end of the hallway.

This hotel starts treating you poorly before you arrive. A few days before your arrival they send you a confirmation with an invitation to make any request to improve your stay. Don't be fooled. The request is highjacked by a web operation pretending to be the "official" Niagara Tourism Authority site but likely a front for the corporate entity of several Niagara hotels including the Sheraton, Marriott, Crowne Plaza, Skyline Inn, Hilton and Days Inn. There is no distinction between 5 star hotels and no star hotels. Everyone is treated badly. They do not bother to properly read it or even have any intention of granting minor requests. A complaint about this was ignored.

On arrival there was no door staff at either the front or rear door. There were no baggage trolleys and no help. You are required to hustle your luggage up to the second floor where the registration desk is by yourself.

The room itself had a dirty, stained and ripped carpet. The internet did not work. The room service menu stated that "For your convenience" they would be adding large additional charge for unspecified services.

As we were getting ready to leave the fire alarm went off. Up on the 9th floor the chambermaids carried two way radios but not information was imparted to the by the hotel or management. To their credit they attempted to organize an evacuation. After a terrible trip down the stairwells the front desk staff were completely oblivious to the mayhem, the fire department hustling up the front stars and panicked guests coming down. They simply went about checking guests at the front desk. It did not appear staff had any training in emergency situations and even less interest. No attempts were made to check the safety of the guests or check the stairwells for injured people. There were also no staff outside to determine if there were any problems caused by the evacuation. Stay at this hotel at your peril. Management indifference poses a very real safety threat. This threat could well reach to the other hotel brands misrepresented by their web site.

I stumbled into the lobby here by chance after having a miserable nights sleep at Michael's Inn, thinking this sure looks expensive. Very helpful staff here got a nice rate for the room and even got upgraded from a double to queens for free and on good friday to boot(!).

Rooms were very nice and clean, although a little hot. Also, they offer complimentary hygiene items like toothbrush, toothpaste etc by just calling the front desk. Also, they have computers with internet available for free (limited time use I'm sure, but it's not like there was a line).

Location is wonderful, close to the falls, close to casino, coffee shop, restaurants and everything - without even having to go outside on a bad weather day. Will definitely stay again :)

I booked this hotel online back in the spring for our October honeymoon. We really wanted a nice, quiet hotel with a great view. I had stayed at the neighboring, sister property before, but didn't want a "big hotel". This fit the bill! We booked a falls-view room, but were upgraded to a balcony room on the 11th floor. It was a tad small, but the bed was super comfy and the bathroom was super clean. We slept with the balcony door open and listened to the falls all night long. We were there five nights and super impressed with the entire staff. We took advantage of the Rainbow Room restaurant and the neighboring hotel's spa. Overall - great experience! Wonderful location, and Carl the bellman was great.
