“Bliss at the end of the blizzard”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013

It has been a few years since we have visited this lovely restaurant. The service was excellent with a waiter who was knowledgeable and willing to give us enough time to browse the extensive menu before making our choices.
My Ceasar salad had a wonderful amount of garlic, I can't usually get enough! My husband's tomato/beet salad was a treat for the eyes and the tomatoes were fresh and tasty.
The savory scallop dish was well-seasoned and there were 13 scallops on his plate. My steak & lobster was delightful with my medium rare steak cooked to perfection. Our companions had similar satisfaction with well-cooked steaks and all veggies were crisp and tasty.
Dishes were removed quietly without fuss and our waiter was available when needed, but didn't hover::) It was worth fighting the blizzard-like conditions to get there. Will return again when we have something major to celebrate. Pricey but you get what you pay for!!

“Great atmosphere, very pricey...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2013

My son and I always come here for live lobster, (sometimes tough through over-cooking). We enjoy the salad with blue cheese dressing, the oysters are fresh and the service is pretty good. The main reason we come here is for the lobster and the fact that we can drink and talk for hours without being rushed. The quiet atmosphere with a feeling of luxury is also a draw. Basically the food is okay but there is far too many veggies on the plate. I cannot speak for the other meats because I haven't tried them.

“Best steaks in the Toronto area.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

This is the restaurant with the best seafood/steak combination in the GTA. The steaks are ALWAYS cooked to perfection. The seafood platter leaves nothing to be desired. The shrimp cocktail is eye-popping; incredibly huge and delicious. Garlic bread is without compare. Service is excellent and the atmosphere is friendly. You get what you pay for and this is not inexpensive but well worth the money. If you are looking to impress the girlfriend/wife or doing a business dinner, you can't do better. My wife would surely ask if something is wrong if I would not take her there on our anniversary. Enjoy it!

“La Castile”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2013

ALWAYS consistent with their steaks. Great garlic bread. Service is dead on, the waiters experience overflows in their timing to serve you, remove the plates, cutlery and clean the table. I have been going there for close to 25 years. Business or with my wife. She loves the prime rib. Rates it the best. Top notch.

“new years eve”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2013

Went there with a party of 4 to celebrate New Years Eve. Parking is free and ample. Upon entering we were lined up waiting for the next round of seatings. As it was New Years Eve, there were 2hr blocks assigned per seating times and we had reservations for 7pm.

The decor reminds me of the titanic with the old world highback velvet chairs, the dark wood walls and the large chandeliers. Very nice image of the old era. We were seated on the lower level near the kitchen entrance which was rather noisy as the servers scurried between the rooms. Tables were tight but still comfortable.

Shrimp cocktail appetizer was wonderful with a very spicy seafood sauce. Yum. Prior to the main course, the salad was topped with copious amounts of dressing! Too much. The filet was done to perfection and tasty although the accompanying bake potato was rather bland and uninspiring as was the steamed veggies. Nothing to write home about and nothing more than you would get at a local chain steak and seafood restaurant at a lower cost. Red velvet dessert was dry. $300 per couple for shared wine bottle, appetizer, main and shared dessert.

Servers were attentive to a minimum. Only to top up water and place a dollop of sour cream on the baked potato. Had to fill our wine glasses ourselves. Not something you'd find at a fine dining establishment.

Overall, go for the ambiance. The food is typical and uninspiring and the service was surly. This was probably the most busiest time of the year for dining so this may have accounted for the lack luster food preparations and service. Perhaps we will try it again on a more quiet night. Cheers.
