“Disappointing”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

Was expecting to be much more upscale but falls well short. Shown to dining room and given worse table in back near traffic area and pool tables. Asked to move and hostess pointed to 3 tables we could pick from and walked away. Claims now to specialize in Seafood so had Snapper and Grouper. Grouper wasn't fresh and snapper was a mixture of flavours that did not work. Coconut curry sauce wasn't bad and veggies were good. Portions were large and you will not go hungry. Was hoping for a leisurely anniversary dinner but we were in and out in an hour and a half. Waiter was very new and I don't think really had any experience. He did try hard. Other waitresses were loud and hurried. Pricing is high for lack of quality and atmosphere. Expect $20-$25 for entrée unless going with steak which will run you $35+ for entrée. Meal for two will be $100-$150 with wine. Will likely not return.

Been to this place several times, including once for a private function (my retirement party!). Food is consistently good and service great.

“Nice atmosphere, mediocre food”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

This restaurant has so much potential based on it's atmosphere. But that can only get you so far. I usually have a rule about restaurants who have a huge menu without a clear cuisine or direction in mind. STAY AWAY!!! But, in this case, I decided to try it. The restaurant is strange when you first walk in (wouldn't have guessed it from the outside with the lovely patio). It looks like a pool hall. I understand that it is a bar and restaurant, but how many pool halls have top notch food? That should have been another warning sign, but again, I ignored it. They claim to be as good as downtown Toronto restaurants but without the hassle or exorbitant pricing. Well, usually you get what you pay for. In this case, the pricing is not worth what you get. I have been to better restaurants with better pricing. The restaurants with higher pricing definitely have higher standards which Gabriel's did not come even close to meeting.

“Bland and expensive!”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

My Girlfriend and I have eaten here a couple of times in the past few months, generally the food was "ok"... That is until our recent experience. We decided to attend the restaurant on a Friday night. The atmosphere was ok, and it was not busy by any standard.. We ordered the "special" calamari and groper! It's taste like cardboard... We then ordered entrees. again a "special" halibut and procutto and a chicken saltibuca.. Both of which had no taste and tasted of salt and majorly over powering lemon juice sauce!

We finished up asked for our bill, the server showed with the bill and card reader and we left, we felt like we were getting pushed out the door!

It was utterly disappointing .. Maybe stick to pizza or pasta if you go.. It's hard to screw that up

“Terrific service and selection”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

Gabriel's was a recommendation so I had high standards and I wasn’t let down.

Our waiter was a delight; Friendly, knowledgeable and funny. He had great recommendations which made dinner wonderful.

Had a great wine selection – and the menu has something for everyone. The portions are large, lots of leftovers.

They offer lovely in house dinning, as well as a quaint little patio.

Worth checking out if you’ve never been.
