We celebrated a birthday here. The greeters were quite friendly and seated us where we wished even though it was quite busy. The server was somewhat inexperienced and was less than prompt with our requests. The manager of the place was very attentive and asked about the service. We explained about the server and he went and talked with her. However, the service did not improve. More training needed likely. The food was, good, hot, and plentiful. The manager arranged for a birthday photo with a cake and candle which was very nice.

I want to like the Mandarin more than I do. Many of the dishes are deep fried but they have something for everyone. I like the idea of variety to meet everyone's tastes but it is getting expensive for a family. There is nothing to really dislike about this place as they try very hard to serve you well. The food is always served at the right temperature but this is not true Chinese cuisine. For many, they love this place and I can see why. But it is not an eating contest for me, and it seems many patrons pile the food high and often to the point of being a little overindulgent. If you are in a group and there are fussy people to be counted, go to the Mandarin as there will be something there to keep all happy.
