Jack Darling Memorial Park is really a hidden gem in the suburban expanse that is Mississauga. The peaceful weeping willows that are surrounded by rolling mounds of green grass are well kept. There is a great playground for kids, along with a sizable splash pad to help keep the kids cool. The change room facilities were very clean for this type of setting, you always wish it could be better, but still respectable. The beach located on Lake Ontario is awesome. The water is refreshing, but the fact that you can go a solid thirty meters or so on a comfortable sand bar, makes the Jack Darling, well darling! There are plenty of picnic tables and there are grills that you can bring charcoal briquettes to have a bbq. There is plenty of space for people to co-exist with paths for bikers, walkers and dogs. It is an ideal setting to get away from the suburbs without having to leave Mississauga. I have told a number of people about Jack Darling since I have visited the park, including people who have lived in Mississauga and the surrounding 905 and they had no idea about the park. It seems that this gem is nicely under wraps. The lack of signage around the entrance and nearby intersections seems to intentionally keep Jack Darling a secret. For a family outing, or just to get away for a leisurely walk on the beach with a great view (of Toronto by the way!) then Jack Darling is a great place to accomplish this task.
