“Tired hotel.....”
Reviewed June 21, 2007

While close to the airport, getting there requires some contortions as it's at the crossraods of a major highway and major arteries. The hotel is quite unspectacular is both location and decor although the staff were friendly. Curiously, the reception area is small given the size of the hotel thereby making it somewhat crowded during the check-in/check-out rushes. The shuttle bus was very efficient, running approximately every 20 minutes from early to morning to late evening.

I was on the eighth floor with access to the Concierge lounge on the 9th. The refreshments and food were always plentiful and diverse although the room is poorly arranged for socializing (basically to guest rooms that were "modified" into a lounge). Not that one is going to spend the day there, but it too is a bit cozy with just a few people.

My biggest issue was with the room itself which was badly in need of paint, had bathroom tiles dislodging from the wall, mold around the tub, serious (and mysterious) stains on the desk chair, a poorly functioning air-conditioner, and leftover trash from previous guests (a crumpled wire hanger visible from behind the T.V. and a pair of socks by the night table). However, the bed was very comfortable and there was instantaneous hot water. As usual, a supplement to use the internet ($12.95CA)...when will Hilton management finally make this complimentary as with their discount chains???

Did not eat in the restaurant. Used the modestly equipped exercise room containing a cardio "theater" in a converted racketball court. Saunas available for men and women.

Most of the hotels in this area are pretty non-descript but this one seemed to cater more to convention/seminar crowds thus making it very vanilla for a Hilton. Felt it was overpriced for the product received.

We have stayed at this hotel many times as we are often forced to overnight when travelling from our home town.We particularily like the fact that the windows open, unusual at an airport hotel.

This time we used our points for a standard room. At check in the desk clerk tried to upgrade us to an executive room but there were none available. He put us in a very nice, refurbished room and we were most comfortable. This room was so much better than our last stay.I suggest that anyone checking in ask for this type of room.

The free shuttle service is fast and efficient. A takeout " continental" breakfast is availble for purchase in the lobby, a great feature if you're catching an early flight.

The restaurant is not great but you're only a few minutes walk from the Bristol Place which has great food.

Lots of negative reviews have been written about this property but give it a chance, I'm glad we did.

Clean, quiet and very close to airport terminals. Staff much friendlier than expected from previous reviews. Surprisingly good meals and cold local microbrew beer on tap in bar. Not quite a 4 star in my view because I would expect an older refurbished facility to have a bit more wow factor. Suggestion for them: they should schedule their first airport shuttle well before 4 a.m. on weekends because of the large number of early morning flights to the U.S. and sun spots.

This is our second stay at this Hotel. The Hotel in general is abit outdated. Front desk can be unhelpful at times, but if you really need some assistance, there is a gentlemen in the Banqueting Office just down the Hallway. He is truely there to make anyone's stay there enjoyable. He even remembered us from the last time we were there. He was very pleasant and filled us in on the bad traffic and which areas to avoid for the day. He offered his help for our 3 day stay. He always seemed to be around when we needed something, especially when we needed to get our E-Ticket printed at 11pm. The parking lot could use more lights. Room Service was pretty quick. We didn't use the gym, but it looked clean.

We booked this hotel for a trade show, then I read the reviews here and was wondering what I had let myself in for! I suspect this hotel has been recently renovated, as the '60s architecture contrasts markedly with the modern-chic lobby interior. The rooms are comfortable - we had a standard 2 double bedded room which also had a desk & chair and a recliner - nice touch. The coffee maker was on a purpose-built unit between the room & bathroom, under which was the mini-bar - so much better than in the bathroom as in some hotels! Bathroom was fine, although the bidet made it unnecessarily crowded (who in North America uses a bidet anyways?). Contrary to other reports, I found it well-maintained & clean, housekeeping was prompt with request for polyester pillows & extra towels (although failed to replenish 3rd set the next day), and the elevators were FAST! On the down side, had to pay $15/day for parking, room service overpriced as usual in this type of hotel - but in-room guide was surprisingly detailed, giving lots of local restaurant info. All in all, it was fine for the $139 rate we paid with the trade show, but I think a little over-priced at the rack rate.
