Great sushi and excellent service. A find I did not expect in this part of Canada. Went there for take away but would like to come back for in house dining. Staff is friendly, sushi at least as good as what you find in the best places in Europe/Japan and prices very fair.

Enjoyed a great meal here, everything from the salad to the main course was excellent. No dessert though, too full! Especially liked the butter fish appetizer, yum! Presentation of my daughter's sushi plate was fantastic. Great job!

You MUST try this place. Consistently top caliber food, service, and decor. We found Shogun because of TripAdvisors awesome reviews and it's all true! Our family purposely saves dinner for Shogun while passing by London because it's so close to the 401. Our kids love the private low-table rooms...great Asian cultural experience. And you know it's good Asian food when many of the customers are Asians themselves!!

Not lying, I almost skipped this restaurant after I saw it was attached to a Motel 8. However, the tripadvisor reviews made me curious enough.
It turned out to be one of the best sushi/sashimi meals ever.
One of the most authentic, fresh and exciting experiences.
The service was great, the staff was actually Japanese.
The fish was fresh, thick cut, wonderful pieces that are rarely served and same price as everywhere else.
A normal two person meal was served on the boat which was great.
The seasonings available were traditional and rare to find, and the staff was great at accomodating gluten free, even having their own tamari soy sauce.
The saki collection was better than I have seen anywhere.
The interior decor was nice, not over the top, but somewhat traditional with only a few kitchy details.
The music was great contemporary japanese.
Taking another trip to london this week to go again!!!!
Best accidental stop-over EVER!!!

Watch for the name 'Shogun' on the sign, it is beside the Motel 8 on Wellington South. It is one of the lesser motels on that strip, and has limited parking near the restaurant itself (which is attached to the motel-hotel). As we approached, after missing it the first time driving by, the outside didn't even hint at how nice it is inside. It has a wonderful Japanese theme, but with real tables and cute isolated nooks and a bookable private room too. The menu was very nice, with a range of Japanese and Korean dishes, both raw and cooked, and a very nice Spicy Miso Seafood soup that isn't so much related to Miso as it is to say it is more Tom Yum'ish. The servers and chef's were very attentive, as on a Saturday dinner the place was nowhere near full, but it should be. I would rate it as the second best sushi in all of London (and the top place is very sushi-only gourmet and ranked #4 for all of Ontario, but Shogun has a far more diverse menu), and Shogun is far better than most others around Ontario at least. It is NOT "all-you-can-eat dead things from the sea and mostly rice", so the quality far surpasses anything you will find in those joints and they have some menu items that show it off (aka, you won't find many university and college students here). Heading to the VIP Theatre? Go for dinner there on the way, you won't regret it. As long as they survive there, we'll be doing that... but hopefully they move out of there to a much better location where they'll be appreciated and frequented.
