Abruzzi was a lonely place for a solo lunch visit recently. The food was good, and the service (Shivonne) was excellent, but the interior decor has seen better days (Probably, unnoticeable during an evening dinner).

After 3+ years we decided a return visit to Abruzzi was in order. As we arrived the hostess opened the door for us and we were given the choice of tables. The ambience was familiar and nice, although I will add throughout the (early) evening, it was a bit on the loud side. Service was attentive, although did feel a bit rushed as we were here for our anniversary, and didn't expect to be in and out in just over an hour. As for the food, it was good, but not on par with the top restaurants in the city. The scallops and pork belly were the highlight, with the octopus lacking a bit of flavor. As for entrees, neither the risotto nor the duck breast were on par with the best we've had. Overall, a nice experience, but not one that we'd rush back to again.

I have enjoyed Abruzzi many, many times since its opening. Was back a couple of weeks ago and was really pleasantly surprised at the experience. Everything about the night was a level above what I can remember. Service continues to be very professional and personable and well timed. The menu continues to impress on paper with thoughtful choices but the difference this time was the quality. Each main at our table arrived beautifully plated and the ideal temp. But the best part was the flavours. Each was ideally paired with the items on the plate and everything was cooked to perfection. We decided to enjoy some desserts and those were also no less of a 'wow'. had to compliment the pastry chef to the server as these were inventive, beautiful to look at and really, really good. Frankly a real surprise and treat for a London restaurant. That pastry chef has a bright future. Simply put, Abruzzi is a winner and a staple of a great night out.
