We decided to eat here following the excellent reviews we had read on this site and also as we were staying in the hotel it was convenient. We previewed the menu and were impressed, there were some delicious sounding dishes. We had a pleasant welcome when we arrived and were shown to a window table with superb views
There were several menu options, the cheapest a three course at 35$ with a limited choice, also an a la carte option, but we chose the table d'hôte at 50$ each which was four courses, wine pairing could be added for 25$ each but we opted for a bottle of Sauvignon, produced in Niagara, at 42$, which was light, but good.
Our meal started with an amuse bouche which was a beef wonton and then our first dish was seared tuna with a carrot purée and salad with asparagus, grated carrot etc., the presentation was excellent and it tasted fantastic. Following this we had belly pork in the most delicious sauce, cooked perfectly, could have eaten more! Main course was a duck confit on risotto, the risotto was good but we found the duck to be over seasoned and far too salty. My wife also experienced a problem with her dish when she found what appeared to be a small piece of glass. We called the waiter and he went immediately to see the chef. The chef came out and reassured us it was actually a piece of blackened salt which had not dissolved. It was still off putting and my wife didn't finish the dish. For desert we had almond tart served with poached pear and ice cream.
Service was friendly and attentive throughout, would we go back, probably I think we were just unfortunate this time.
