I was convinced by a friend that Bella Bistro was the new 'in' place to eat. Well at best, it's the new adequate place to eat. Years ago this was Tommy's, a greasy spoon eatery which served up run of the mill food in huge portions. One thing about Tommy's, you never went away hungry. Bella Bistro should offer their customers a magnifying glass with which to locate the miniscule portions of food. The quality of food I'd classify as not bad. It's certainly not great, but it's not bad. However, you'll want to eat again within the next couple of hours. The ambiance is very dated, the location is appalling and the parking is miserable. Access from the busy Bath Road necessitates taking ones life in their hands. Whatever the drawbacks, the place appears to be quite popular; although I'll hesitate before considering another visit.

This is a welcome addition to the Kingston restaurant scene.
Don't, however, go there for the decor (1970s Ramada Inn breakfast room: dark worn carpet and heavy "colonial" chairs) or the atmosphere, which is that of a diner at a busy crossroads, complete with brusque, jovial waitress.
Go there for the food. Although they have built their reputation around pizza, Bella Bistro tries to cook main dishes with locally produced ingredients, following a qujte successful trend in KIngston, where young back to the soil people are producing excellent, fresh, organic produce, eggs and meat.
My catch of the day pickerel was a real discovery (pickerel season for the MOhawks begins in May). NIce flavours. good blend, perfect cooking.
The Bella Panino is also quite successful.
The wine list is so short it isn't a list at all, but the Pinot Grigio is good (sold, European waty, in carafes, as house wine: 1/4, 1/2 litre, and litre).
THis is an unpretentious place where the relaxed atmosphere, the space between tables enable you to enjoy carefully crafted dishes which are as much of a taste experience as those of the more talked about restaurants in downtown Kingston. Go there before they build a dining room on their waterfront property, and the prices double.
Oh, one more thing. THey do take reservartions, and tokk ours, but then lost it. No problem on that not c=very busy night, but could be an issue later in hte season.

We frequent this restaurant with our parents. We usually order pizza to share, and it has always been delicious. The service has always been great. On our most recent visit we noticed some updating had been done and I think it has made a positive impact on the atmosphere. Parking is a bit of an issue on busy nights, so beware. Overall, I think this is a great spot and I look forward to watching it evolve :)

Bella Bistro is a cosy, unpretentious, popular local bistro which serves good tasty food. After hearing how good the perch "catch of the day" had been when our friends were last there we opted for the catch of the day special which was skate. We were happy we chose it because the fish and the veggies etc were all absolutely delicious. With drinks but no dessert our bill for two was just under $60.00 which we thought very fair for a very good meal.

This restaurant is a local staple that has been in business for a number of years and is well supported by local customers. They make a key point of supporting local growers and serving local food which in Kingston is an active promotion. If you are visiting in the west end of Kingston, Bella Bistro is a solid reliable choice.
