“Not your average Cafe”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

Don't expect the staff to fall over each other trying to serve you. They give you coffee in a cracked mug; you spill some as you weave your way to the cream & sugar table, you have to clear the plates from the last customer... but somehow, it's all part of the atmosphere, and it works! Tired of pretentious coffee shops? Come here.

“Great food, but Cliquey”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

The food that we had at the Sleepless Goat was excellent, we had the flying burrito and a slice of peanut butter cheesecake. However, the atmosphere was very cliquey. The staff also forgot to bring our dessert and didn't clear the original plates for at least half an hour, I had to go up and give them my plate and remind them, and it wasn't busy at that point, just two or three tables. I will go again and see if the service is different, because the meal was good, but the service was off putting.

“Great vibe, good food but slow service.”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

Enjoyed the yummy Flying burrito and the Koodoo noodle dish on two separate visits. The burrito was much much better - big portion and delicious. Noodle dish was unimpressive. Cool, laid back give but unfortunately, severely long waits for food. Burrito took 25 mins and the noodle dish took 45! Lame excuse for both was "there are a lot of orders in the kitchen". Didn't square (For the 45 min wait) with the fact that there were about 20 Patrons, it was a Monday at 2 pm and that there were two cooks (visible)!. The downsides of a co-op! Otherwise loved the unpretentious vibe.

“Hang out”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

I really like this place for a grab and go kinda meal; as it is always busy (especially with University folks back). It's a co-operative run "cafe" per se with local/organic (when possible) selection. It's a no frills kinda place where you can go relax and hang while enjoying a limited but very tasty meal!

“the best cinnamon buns in the world!”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

This is a cool alternative to the Tim Hortoned out approach most Canadian towns take to cafe life. Relaxed, charming staff - delicious vege food (mostly) and wonderful homemade cakes (see title for what was probably the culinary highlight of our 3 weeks in Canada) this is not an anodyne, dull chain - its a bit edgy and a bit homespun. We loved it!
