We went to Pan Chancho for lunch because of the excellent reviews it's received. We were excited by the menu but a little disappointed with the actual dishes. In fact, I would rate it between "Average" and "Very Good" if there were such a rating. I had a caesar salad with grilled chile shrimp; it was OK but not extraordinary and, in fact, a little bland. My husband had a "burger"; again, it was not "fast food" -- the burger was freshly prepared and tasted OK -- but the accompaniments were bland. The bread was excellent (it is a bakery, after all). Two pots of tea arrived with the tea bags steeping in warm water; these were sent back and new pots arrived promptly. I bought some deserts to 'take-out": the apple-cranberry pie was excellent and the lemon tart was good, but the Opera Cake was most definitely previously frozen and not overly interesting. Atmosphere is nice. Long walk up- and downstairs from the 3rd floor dining room to the washrooms.
