After a fun evening on the town, we settled into Woodenheads. Great atmosphere, great location, great food. Too bad the table next to us was loud, snobby had too much wine. Would have stayed longer but you cant pick your neighbours.

Service was very good. We needed extra time to decide since the menu had so many delicious options. We had 2 pizzas and coconut shrimp. Both were perfect.

Woodenheads is widely regarded as one of the better dependable dining locations in Kingston. We have been patrons their multiple times, as either a couple or as part of a larger group.

Unfortunately, on the past 2 ocassions, we have been very disappointed by slow service and shoddy shoddy customer service coupled with obnoxious patrons. Please see the details below:

1st) First disappointment was a lunch ~ 1 week ago (June 16, 2013). We brought a group of 6 for a lunch. Reservation had been made in advance. Service was slow, despite there being multiple open tables at the restaurant. To the point that our guests were getting quite antsy, taking multiple trips to the restroom etc. Overall, food was good but not great (eg. we've had better at this same restaurant, for the same dishes as were ordered). Overall: sub-optimal, and did not live up to our prior expectations. However, as everyone can have a bad day, we tried again....

2nd) Second disappointment was a late dinner on a Sunday evening. ~8pm we arrived and were promptly seated. Our group was small, two of the party having just arrived from a flight across the country to come to Kingston for our wedding. Our server was very pleasant, and made some decent wine suggestions. Orders promptly taken, despite a busy and disjointed ordering sequence. The food was delivered within a fair amount of time and was of moderate-high quality. Certainly an improvement on the prior week's meal thus far, right? Not so...we were soon to be very disappointed. A group of boisterous and obnoxious guests filled the raised seating area we were situated in shortly after. They ordered a round of shots & beverages at the bar and proceeded to interrupt the entire restaurant's dining experience for the next 30-40min. We could not enjoy the food, nor converse with each other. There was a large family and two older couple in the same seating area as ourselves...all of whom appeared equally un-impressed. We understand that a restaurant can not always control who comes in the door, nor what state they might be in. However laws about serving obviously impaired patrons are pretty clearcut. Furthermore, when we raised this issue with the bartender managing (after having to get up to specifically request the "privilege" of paying in order to leave), we were quickly brushed off with excuses of there being golf tournies in town and patrons who were in the restaurant business. Not a great model of customer service. No genuine apology, no bill adjustments or other measure of good will. Absolutely furious with this lack of concern for guests already present in the restaurant. And furthermore angered by the brushoff.

Sad to say Woodenheads, and not our waitress' fault...but your management practices were horrid and your customer service skills equally poor.

Do not miss a meal at Woodenhead's when you are in Kingston. I recommend the Coco Shrimp, Santa Fe Pizza, and a Chocolate Lasagna for dessert. Delightful wine and drink list, quite possibly the best service available in Kingston.
