Service professional catered to young children. Food beyound a doubt the best we have tasted. Steak was mouthwatering, hot and cooked to perfection. Menu and prices a big selection to choose from.

We were staying in the Kingston area for a few days, and this restaurant was our first choice. It reminded us of a Texas Roadhouse. Our waitress seemed like she was busy and had other things to do. We had to ask for more salsa and chips and she was no where to be found, we had a ask another server. Then we needed refills on our drinks and again, she was incognito, we had to yet again ask another server that was nearby. Other than that the portions were reasonable, and it was really good food, and came the exact way we ordered. We had never visited a Lone Star Restaurant before, but it was decent. It would be a lot of fun to go here on your birthday, because they put a huge hat on you and make you stand while the staff sings happy birthday.

Love the patio! Servers are right on the ball, and the drinks are always cold! Great place for family and friends to hang out on a sunny afternoon!

Huge portions, excellent tex mex food. Free chips and salsa while you wait that they keep refilling. You don't need appetizers with the large portions and chips before dinner. The atmosphere and the building, which is an old firehall, are amazing. They have giant bottles of corona and a large margarita with a tiny corona bottle put in upside down that drains into the margarita as you drink it. They have a huge outdoor patio which is quite nice.

My wife and I returned to the Lone Star after several years, this time with our two pre-teen daughters in tow. This place was one of our old stompin grounds in earlier days.
The Cons: They still don't take reservations, but there's no place to wait for a table when the upstairs bar is closed. When we were seated and served, my beer was a bit warm and our food, though cooked perfectly, was quite bland. Took a long time to arrive.
The Pros: Our server was great; she made a menu suggestion that saved us$12. The atmosphere was fun as always, and our 12-year-old was thrilled with her first fajita experience.

Overall, it was okay, but with so many other dining spots in Kingston, the Lone Star better get its groove back or it'll be gone.
