Description: Fort Henry Restaurants include a variety of food service options for guests depending on the time of year. The restaurants are located inside of Fort Henry National Historic Site (also part of a World Heritage Site). Note that there is no admission that needs to be paid in order to access the restaurants inside the fort. The Battery Bistro is a 200 seat patio on the wall of Fort Henry that overlooks Lake Ontario, Royal Military College and the City of Kingston. The view is spectacular. The Bistro serves a summer-inspired menu and is open from mid May to mid September for lunch and most evenings. The restaurant also includes several interior dining rooms in the historic site that provide similar casual meal service and accommodate reserved groups all year. A canteen with over-the counter food and beverage service is open daily from mid-May to mid-October. The Fort Henry restaurants are popular for special-occasion dining on Mothers' Day and Thanksgiving. The restaurants open to support the Fort Fright Festival in October and the Fort Frost festival in December and October. The fort restaurants are very popular in December during the holiday season for casual diners and reserved groups.

“Impressive location - mediocre food”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

We were not planning on having lunch at Fort Henry, only drinks, however when the weather turned bad when we were enjoying our drinks we went inside and ordered the fish & fries. The fries were extremely salty, the fish okayish but a bit too much battered. Our waiter was friendly but there were a couple of other waiters that were not representative at all to be a waiter e.g. one girl with tattoos all over her legs. Nonetheless, service was quick and efficient. When we had already settled the bill it started to rain again so we decided to wait a couple of more minutes. The coffee we ordered during the waiting was for free which was a nice gesture. All in all, very good for the view and poor in terms of the food, so average. We would recommend to have one or two drinks but not have lunch or dinner here.

“Not your ordinary fort!”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

The Battery Bistro is a new addition to the fort and a fine one indeed. The food is unique and excellent. The view is spectacular. It is a great enhancement to an experience that is already fascinating (Fort Henry)

“Worst Service with a Great View”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

The saving grace was the view of Lake Ontario absolutely beautiful. When it takes close to an hour to get your food order and then it arrives cold that is more than disappointing. Cold French Fries are awful and these were the worst. Jessup Food services should be ashamed of themselves for this lack of quality control and service control. They are in my books a very underwhelming food service company. Worst food service ever in all my years of going out to restaurants all over the country. No apologies, no concern shown and as I said if the view hadn't been as good as it was we would have got up and left due to the long wait. We should have packed a lunch to eat lunch at the Battery Bistro. DO NOT GO THERE TO WASTE YOUR MONEY ON OVER PRICED UNDERWHEMLING FOOD.

“Sunny day on the patio”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

Having been to the Fort many times before the Bistro was installed, I can tell you this is what the fort needs. You cant ask for a better view with your meal. The food was awesomed, but definitely a little over priced.
My main flaw with the Bistro was the service. We found the service to be slow, however when you were being served they were very polite

“Poor food, too offhand service, gorgeous views”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

What a colossal disappointment. The views from this historic fort are breathtaking and the surrounding buildings are beautiful. BUT the salmon was way overcooked and the salads, complete with creamy dressings were warm so we were afraid to eat them not knowing how long they had sat out.

Our waiter was pleasant but repetitively called us "guys" which we are definitely not! The manager was polite and comped our meals. I would not go back to eat but will return to sit and soak in the views, listen to the fantastic music, and have a drink.
