We used to go when it was the Slip and listen to the live music. We just started going again this summer and it's a nice spot to have a drink and look out on the water, then go feed the ducks. Food and drinks are good but I wouldn't say amazing. We were there on Friday night and there was no soup that was on the menu and no blue cheese dressing for my salad. Spring rolls were really good. The bison/pork burgers were good but a little think and dry. Nice assortment of drinks. Prices reasonable. Would go back.

In the past we have had a number of very negative dining experiences at the hotel restaurant. According to General Manager Scott Follwell he has made some drastic changes to staff and operations that included the hiring of a new Food and Beverage manager, chefs and other personnel. In an attempt to change our prior negative perceptions of the restaurant, Scott made us a generous offer to try the “New Dox” restaurant. With all the new and recent changes in place, Scott was sure that we would not be disappointed. Indeed he was correct in his assumption.

Compared to our previous experiences it was a delight to dine here. The restaurant is not five star dinning but offers great value & a tasty meal for a reasonable price. The wine list is short but offers a small selection of reasonably priced bottles. Our salads were fresh, green and crispy; our dinner consisting of steak and chicken was cooked to perfection and very tasty. Our deserts were simply fabulous. Our waitress Sharon only three weeks into the job was experienced and professional at all times. She is an asset to the property. The food and beverage manager Bruce was always about keeping an eye on things. Excellent to see a manager so enthusiastic and very hands on. The addition of a more extensive wine list and proper red wine glasses would be a plus but is not a deal killer for dinning here. Apparently we are told that a new and revamped wine selection is due out in early October.

We tried the breakfast Buffet the next morning. The Buffet is a simple selection of hot food, fruits & yogurts but reasonably priced for the selection. Eggs, sausages, bacon, pancakes and French toast rounded out the hot food selection. For the most part all was delicious with the exception of the croissants which were stale and inedible. Along with larger juice glasses, a bagel slicer or knife would have been nice for cutting the bagels in half. All in all as far as buffet breakfasts go this was a good choice for a satisfying breakfast. Once again the “hands on” food and beverage manager Bruce was always about helping out & keeping an eye on things.

In short this hotel is serious about changing all the past negative dining experiences. Phenomenal strides have been made in creating a positive culinary
