“A big disappointment”
Reviewed June 7, 2012

The only good thing about this hotel was the view from the room.
The hotel looks, feels, "smells" old. The service was poor. The "very continental" breakfast was very meager, considering the price that they charge for the room.
A poor value for the money. I will never stay there again, and I suggest that you might want to avoid it.

I stayed here for 3 nights and I was not sure what to expect especially since I was a lone traveller and am skeptical about hotels in general. But this place provided everything I needed.

The staff were amazingly friendly and informed.
The breakfast was simple yet delicious - muffins were very tasty, tasted like they were homemade, the milk and juices were cold and staff kept everything clean and refilled.
I had a two queen bed room with a city view and enjoyed it very much. A bit outdated, but the beds weren't. They were very comfortable, clean and the room overall did not have any smell. It had a microwave, a mini-fridge and was very spacious!
The washroom- - simple yet served it's purpose - I would suggest they just replace the shower head.
The room was nice and cool when I got in and the view I had of some of Kingston City Hall and the street was just to my liking as I like the city atmosphere.
The wireless internet worked - the elevators worked - the cleaning staff made the beds and exchanged the towels everyday.

I would suggest this hotel for anyone who is looking to just relax and sleep in their room and who enjoy the simplicity of things and who would want a nice complimentary breakfast. I had checked out other hotels and they were double the price with no complimentary breakfast and the same views - This hotel is definiately worth the stay!

The location was just amazing - it is between Brock Street and Princess Street - the two main downtown streets in Kingston and in walking distance of the pier and every thing possible!

I would stay at this hotel again especially as a young lone traveller! No complaints here.

We rented a room for one night at this hotel based on it's location as well as somewhat positive reviews.

We were looking for a smoking room, so the fact that this hotel offered us a smoking room was icing on the cake.

When we arrived to our room we started noticing many issues.

First, there was a squashed dead fly on the wall in between the beds where the lights are. There was also a large dead ant by the patio door as well as a large spider which ran across my feet in the bathroom. We opened the patio door to notice the handle missing, and the hole covered in duct tape. Once the door was open we noticed the gapping hole in the bottom of the screen. It looked as though a dog/cat had mangled the screen. After dinner we turned on the TV only to have sound and no picture. We called front desk and an employee came down and fiddled with the TV, he mentioned that the TVs in the smoking wing are in fact the older TVs from the upper floors which have had their TV's replaced. The smoking rooms seem to be the dumping ground for old furniture/electronics. In the evening upon returning to our room after an evening of fun in downtown Kingston we decided to rent a movie from their “Deals of the day starting from $4.99” pay per view selections. We made our selection and received numerous errors when trying to purchase. We called the front desk and were told that they need to input the movie when we make our selection, and to try again in 5-10 minutes. We waited, tried again, gave it more time, and tried again. 35 minutes later we were still unable to purchase our selection so we called front desk once more and were told someone would come down. Minutes later the phone rang and it was front desk telling us that they actually did not have that particular movie. Needless to say we wasted plenty of time on a situation that would have been avoided if A) the clerk at the front desk knew that they in fact did not have this movie, and B) if they did not present this movie as an option.

All in all, we would not stay there again, not with the Holiday Inn right next to it. It’s location, while ideal does not make up for all of the issues we encountered. During our stay we felt shunned because of the smoking room. I feel that a hotel or any business for that matter, should treat all of their rooms with the same attention and care.

I gave it 1 star simply because the location was spectacular.

Room Tip: Do not request a smoking room as these showed to be highly neglected.

I stayed at this Hotel and found it the great water front location.
Downtown, good front desk service. Large clean room with great
view of the harbour front. Easy to park unground, main parking
location.
Room were very clean. Went out for lunch, older hotel nearby.
food was ok. The night life was a little quiet but found an older hotel
to have a few drinks. Staff was very friendly.
Hotel was quick and friendly.

Room Tip: Waterfront room and book our parking in the hotel right away.

We were looking for a reasonably priced room for just one night and the Confederation fit the bill. It is in a great location, right on the waterfront, close to the main street - Princess. There were many restaurants within walking distance. We tried the Olivea and it was very good. There was an open air farmers market setting up on Saturday morning just ouside the main doors. Our room was small, but adequate. The complimentary continental breakfast was average at best.... but fine if you just want to grab some toast and coffee and go. I would stay here again for the price.... around $100.

My wife and I decided to stay downtown for a Saturday night and enjoy the many shops and sights that our hometown has to offer. We had made reservations a day before at the Confederation Place Hotel and contrary to the reviews I read we found it to be very nice and affordable. The hotel is located on Ontario Street and the room we had on the 6th floor looked out over Lake Ontario with a nice view of the Royal Military College and Confederation Basin. The room itself was clean and modern, perhaps recently renovated, with a comfy king bed, 37 inch flat screen TV, microwave, fridge (bonus) and coffee maker. The carpeting in the room and halls seemed to be rather new and there was no shortage of hot water. We also enjoyed a complimentary continental breakfast which offered plenty for us. The parking was nice in a heated underground lot and we were told upfront that it is $15 to park which was no problem, the convenience was worth it. This hotel is in a great location downtown offering plenty of shops, bars and restaurants all in walking distance.

We stopped in Kingston overnight and chose this hotel due to locatiion. It was $105 plus $15 parking. Our room was very small with the old fashioned blow heater that didn't do a good job. The room was VERY small with one uncomfortable chair. Room on a non smoking floor smelled like smoke. Bed wasn't made up properly, tub was dirty and rusty, had to kill a giant spider in the morning by the coffee maker (Timmy's it is!) horrible place - won't be back.
