We're not happy until you are not happy should be this place's motto. No flexibility in their routine even when the entire place was booked with people all on the same event schedule. Breakfast was at 8 or 8:30 a.m. despite our entire group which occupied every room in the B&B being on a schedule whereby breakfast at 7 or 7:30 a.m would accomodate the functions that brought us to Kingston, but no - the time for breakfast could NOT be altered! These are the rules, and no we don't have the Globe & Mail at the B&B until we pick it up at the store AFTER breakfast, ( unlike the B&B down the street where the Globe &Mail was ready available for any early rising patron ) The owner and staff of this place managed to take the Breakfast out of B&B and was well on the way to making patrons question how much they really wanted the Bed, given the prison camp rules at the Rosemount!

Wow! Sounds like we were not a good fit on this one. So sorry that you were unhappy with your stay. We do our very best to work breakfast times with our guests and sometimes with special events the timing is difficult. Even many big hotels do not do a full breakfast before 7:30. Not sure how you missed the Globe and Mail - and our local Whig Standard newspapers. They are delivered every morning and are placed in the living room along with the early morning coffee. The Rosemount Chef always has coffee brewed and out to the living room early. For a really early guest there is always the kettle and tea and coffee on the marble counter in the living room as well. Perhaps you missed that. When you checked out of the Rosemount Inn you were given a wonderful guide from www.OntariosFinestInns.com . I hope you will use it as a great way to find other inns that perhaps will be more to your liking - as we are all unique different in our own ways.

Rosemount Inn is a delightful, charming B&B, well-located in Kingston Town Centre. The decor is traditional and tasteful. The breakfast, as others have commented, is outstanding. Our daughter, a Queens student, stayed with us in the Edward Suit, which is very spacious, allowing us to relax and chat in the comforts of our own home. As far as B&Bs go, the Rosemount is more pricy than I believe is warranted. The additional fee of 50$ per extra guest in a room that is already priced above the standard 2-person bedroom is, IMHO, unreasonable. We have stayed at the Frontenac down the street which did not charge us for an extra person when we rented their large room. Despite this we had a wonderful weekend and were very well taken care of by the staff.

Thank you for your thoughts and helpful comments on your stay. The two level chalet style Edwards Suite is a very special hideaway. It is one of the first booked at the inn. Many guests use it for sharing by booking the adjoining Studio as well. The rates for the Coach House have not changed more than $25 in over ten years. A reasonable amount wouldn't you agree? For other rooms that can accommodate three the Macdonald Room and The Anne Earl room each have a queen and a single bed and are a lesser rate than the Edwards Suite.. I am glad you enjoyed your breakfast and hopefully you were able to partake in the complimentary afternoon tea and the homemade cookies too. Please be sure to ask about other rooms as we would love to have you return.

This B&B was just great on so many levels. The house itself and room had character and were very comfortable. Walking distance to much of downtown. Hotel staff were very friendly, helpful and accomodating. The food was absolutely excellent...... a cut above the fare you get at most B&B's.

Stayed in this B&B for one night and per the previous post, the property has loads of charm and history. Though the rate was on the pricier side, it was well worth it. Stayed in the Tower Room which was full of character and very spacious. The room had its own private porch which overlooked part of the gardens and had a view of the front of the B&B. There`s barely any traffic on the street (though we did stay on a week night and the university crowds were limited as it was summer break) so it was quiet at night if you needed to get some good rest. The walk to the main street where all restaurants and shops are located was no more than 5 - 10 minutes . If you`re interested in cathedral architecture, there were a few surrounding churches in the immediate area which were nice to look at. Breakfast (no additional charge as this is a B&B) included fresh fruit, delicious veggie quiche, potatoes, and a biscuit. Drink options included various teas or coffee, and juice. There were two time slots for breakfast as seating in the dining room is limited.

The owner of the Inn was on holidays during our stay, but our host Gary was FABULOUS -- very warm and welcoming! Upon check in, he immediately offered us coffee (or tea) and cake that he had personally baked earlier in the day for a guest who was celebrating her birthday. Gary was very considerate and provided helpful details about the inn, places to eat, and things to do.

Would definitely return for a short stay!

Room Tip: Stayed in the ``Tower Room`` -- Very spacious room and bathroom, private porch, room with character...

So nice to hear from you! Gary has been on staff here at various times since the late 1990's. He has a wealth of experience and has always been great with guests. I feel very satisfied when I am away to know that my guests are getting the attention and professionalism that Gary offers and that is expected from us..Glad that you enjoyed your stay at The Rosemount. Thanks for posting your review. I will be sure to pass along your comments to Gary. Best regards, Holly

We really loved the look of this place--loads of charm and history. The big covered front porch is lovely and the gardens attractive. It's got a lot going for it but they could do better.
The manager was very pleasant, though he seemed run off his feet. The owner takes over when he goes home on break. She was pleasant enough though they just seem like they're over it already.
We felt let down in some important ways: The room was minimally cleaned--freshly made bed and clean sink but no vacuuming as the floor was edged with a variety of human hair, the tub was not clean and horizontal surfaces were dusty. Also, the staff interact as little as possible with guests--they simply vanish. We got information about the Canada Day events from another guest who had picked the material up in town.
I think the owner should spend more time with the guests at least pretending that she likes us, rather than spending so much time in front of the computer sending notes after the fact.
Next time we're in Kingston, we will likely go back to the Frontenac Club B&B.

Thank you for your comments. I do wish that you had brought the deficiencies in your room to us while you were here. Rooms are thoroughly vacuumed and cleaned before every check in. If you had told us we would have rectified the situation right away.
Gary and I love to help guests with info on what is happening around the town. Our restaurant menu guide book is really popular with guests to help them choose a dining venue and we of course are always making reservations for them. If you needed help we would have been happy to assist.
I believe you run a B&B as well and you know there is a fine line between being with guests and staying out of the way. Guests are not here to visit with us and we see our part as 'guide' and help them whenever possible to have a great time. My sincere apologies If we did not respond to your needs.I do wish you had asked for help while you were here or spoken with us at check out. Kingston is a lovely city and I wish you many more return visits , alas to another inn. Best regards, Holly

We stayed for 2 nights in this lovely old house, which was full of character. We loved everything about it - the warm welcome, the fabulous breakfasts, afternoon tea on the porch, the beautiful big room, the quiet location (but still within easy walking distance of the town centre and lake). It was an amazing experience and we have never been in a B&B like it. We are so glad the Tourist Information Office recommended it. Having got a cheap bus ticket to Kingston we then felt we could splash out a bit on accommodation. This was certainly good value. We can thoroughly recommend 'The Rosemount' and Kingston for a short stay.

I have always said that I have the best guests in the world! You are the ones that make breakfast such a special fun time. I love to hear the laughter coming from the dining room as guests get to share adventures and make new friends at the breakfast table. So pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for posting your comments. All the best, Holly and the friendly Golden Retriever Katie/

May 20, 2012 This was our first time in Kingston but not our first stay in a B&B. I have to say that Rosemount B&B was fabulous. The staff were great it felt like home away from home. They were very welcoming and made us feel very comfortable. I have dietary issues and they met them with no question. The breakfast was wonderful as was the banana bread at afternoon tea. We look forward to returning in the very near future.
