Four Points Hotel and Suites Kingston
Ranked #14 of 37 Hotels in Kingston
Reviewed March 22, 2006

This is the fanciest place in Kingston, although, as the previous reviewer notes, it's not The Ritz. Rooms are very clean and nicely furnished. The location is fantastic -- in the heart of town. And the restaurant was an excellent place for breakfast.

The negative to the hotel is that the pool is kept too cold and is in need of sprucing up. Also, the ceiling in the pool area is, quite frankly, disgusting; it appears to consist of deteriorating white cheese/mold.

On the whole, though, this is a very good place to stay.

My husband and I and our two kids just returned from a two night stay at this hotel. We booked a junior suite which was small-ish but functional. It was clean and comfortable and the microwave oven and fridge meant we could bring in some of our own food. This really worked well for the kids. The staff were friendly and accomodating - the decor is a bit tired but satisfactory.

But the POOL! It is of poor quality to begin with, tiles and pool liner are dingy and dirty. The pool furniture is an un-inviting and uncomfortable mish-mash of poor quality plastic mixed in with equally uncomfortable wooden park benches. The hot tub will accomodate 4 people (squeezed in) but you don't want to think too much about the filth you are stewing in...the towels were plentiful and nice - there was a sauna that seemed fine - but avoid the change rooms all together... It is a pity because the pool is located on the 4th floor with lots of natural light. It has the potential to be very lovely - but it isn't.

We ate at the restaurant - and found the menu and decor dated, the food just passable but over-priced for the quality. There are many better choices within an easy walk.

For the price and the location the hotel offers good value - but it sure isn't the RITZ.

We stay at the Four Points every time we go to Kingston, and we go quite often. It is a warm, cozy hotel with a great staff. They are very accomodating and extremely friendly! The Four Points is centrally located and close to all the downtown attractions, shops and restaurants. Within walking distance to everything! Rooms are a good size, clean and warm in the winter/cool in the summer. The pool and hot tub are always clean. When in Kingston we won't stay any where else.

We have enjoyed many stays at the Sheraton Four Points and we've just reserved again for October. The junior suites are perfect for families. The rooms are fresh, clean and well appointed. The pool is beautiful and the location can't be beat! Yes, it's pricey, but worth it.

Chose to stay at a Sheraton as the standard is usually good. Okay, we only paid £35 on priceline, avoiding taxes and the room was fine as we looked at the harbour (past the airconditioning units) but the pool, whilst looking inviting, was cold and dirty on the bottom. Also, the bottom of the changing lockers was very dusty.

Disappointingly, the restaurant featured in the hotel room booklet had been turned into a conference room and the only place to eat was a bar which was open to the public. We didn't bother but went to the Kingston Brewery bar next door which served delicious food and lovely cider made on the premises! You can also tour the brewery! My husband liked the real ale, even if it was served cold!

A trip on the Wolfe Island Ferry is free and you can take the car if you want to travel round the island or the the States. Added bonus is a Tim Hortons outside the ferry terminal and the coffee is divine and cheap!

I had a very pleasant stay at the Four Points Sheraton in Kingston this past week. Made the reservation through Priceline for a 3 star. I was initially hesitant based on some of the reviews here, but was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and the overall service at the hotel. The room was very clean and the beds very comfortable. The pool and spa were fine, and I appreciated the sauna too. I had no problem with the parking garage even trying to maneuver a minivan in it. The only problem was the sometimes balky parking ticket situation trying to get through the barriers. The hotel's location was perfect for restaurants and strolling near the waterfront. For breakfast, Morrisons across the street the block over is a great greasy spoon place. The hotel restaurant, Sizzling, offers a limited by good menu, and they treated my kids great. We strolled by the Holiday Inn on Princess. Many reviewers prefer that to the Sheraton, but the outside looked a little worn. The Four Points offers a better central location for the visitor, and is newer too.

The wife and I enjoyed this hotel very much, recently staying 3 nights in Kingston. Never hurts to get the room for $75 a night on Priceline. We also thought the staff was very friendly and helpful, almost outgoing to a fault. Maybe the managers had read some of the negative reviews in the past. They personally showed me to the free internet access on the 2nd floor in the guest business room, which was not easy to find.

I called prior to our arrival and we were reserved a room on the 8th floor with 2 queens overlooking the water. Yes, the hotel isn't right on the water (a block inland), but the view from our room was still nice. The location was perfect, right around the corner from all the pubs and restaurants on the waterfront.

We liked the idea of the free underground parking garage, although it's very warm down there in the summertime. I can see where some thought it's a little tight, but further down below there were plenty of spots. We drove a new Acura TL on this trip, and even I felt comfortable with the parking arrangements. The elevators made it simple to get from the car to the room.

The room was clean and the beds were great as described before. The room size was OK, certainly not large. Only problem was the toilet handle had to be jiggled every time it was flushed or the water would constantly run. I would only consider that a minor complaint.

Did not use the pool nor the exercise room that only had 5 or 6 pieces of equipment. The lobby itself was small and I found it somewhat odd that this hotel did not have a gift shop. Overall, very pleased and would definitely recommend it, especially for the price we paid.
