“Excellent stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2011

Visited Kingston after almost 8 years. This time with family. Booked three rooms on 8th floor. Everything was great. From booking the rooms over the phone to the smooth and speedy check in. Tara, at the reception was efficient, friendly and welcoming. She checked us in with a smile and gave us a description of the hotel and the ammenities. She even adjusted the room price without me having to ask. Really impressed. Before reaching the hotel, I called Luke to request extra wine glasses, microwave and fridge and adjoining rooms; everything was done as per my request. Comfortable beds; we had two queen beds in each room. Lighting is a little dim in the rooms, might need a little updating. Great places to eat around the hotel and the main square is just next to the hotel. There is huge LCBO three blocks away. Next morning breakfast was just superb. I was a little wary of an a la carte breakfast, we are all used to buffet breakfast. But the breakfast was simply amazing; especially the omlettes and the yogurt parfait. They gave us a private room in the restaurant as we were a big room. The young lady who took our order was very efficient and quick. All in all we had a great stay at Four points Sheraton. A few suggestions: brighter lights in the rooms (maybe a floor lamp and a better table lamp on the desk), better quality toiletteries in the bathroom and maybe one elevator that goes down to the parking.

Thankyou so much for your wonderful words about Tara and Luke and I will definitely pass on your remarks to the chefs and restaurant staff in our restaurant, The King Street Sizzle! It is our goal that every stay is a delightful experience and we are encouraged by such compliments! We will certainly take a look at the lighting concerns that you mention. I apologize that it may not have been pointed out to you that we do, in fact, have an elevator designated for the parking garage. It is opposite the guest room elevators. We look forward to seeing you again!
Keep in touch!
Warm regards,

We stayed at the biggest suite at the Four Points Kingston while attending our daughter's convocation and the stay was amazing. It was pure luck that we were able to use 7000 Starpoints (same as a regular room or a junior suite) to redeem a free night. The whole suite was 690 sq. ft. big. There was a wetbar, a dining table with 4 chairs, a double sofabed & 2 single seaters in the sitting room. The bedroom had a king bed and a huge bathroom with jacuzzi. There was also a balcony and the view was beautiful. Being a Starwood Gold SPG member, I have stayed in numerous Starwood properties and never realized that a Four Points could be so comfortable and beautiful. Front desk staff was very helpful & friendly. Underground parking at the hotel was $14. There was free Wi-Fi in the suite.

We ate at the Wooden Heads Gourmet Pizza just down the road and the appetizers and pizzas were delicious. They had a lovely patio. It was truly a very memorable trip!

Room Tip: use Starpoints to redeem a free

I am actually there and absolutely satisfied with this place. check in was within 2 minutes. rooms are clean and spacious. staff is freindly and helpfull. this hotel has a good restaurant SIZZLES with tasty food selection. It is downtown Kingston and few minutes walk to major key areas of this city. restaurants, port, banks, gov. buildings, university, hospital etc.. whatever your reason for being here you are not far from it.

the hotel itself has a mid size pool and whirlpool. a sauna and a gym on the 4th level. very private as we were the only once to to be there when we went.

the room is quite, clean, has window that open !!. AC, iron with iron table, hair dryer, flatscreen TV and wired internet access in upper level. WIFI can not be reached at upper levels for some reason.

overall i am vry satisfied

Room Tip: get an SPG member card to be in the SPG floor.

Thankyou so much for your wonderful compliments about our staff, decor, and the King Street Sizzle Restaurant! We are delighted that you enjoy staying with us! You're absolutely right in recommending people join the Starwood Preferred Guest Program! You are obviously thrilled with it's benefits! We look forward to seeing you again this summer!

One night stay in June, our room was ok, beds were old and way too soft, carpet was stained, well worn, no fan in the bathroom, key cards didnt work very, charging $14 a night for parking isnt very smart if you wish to build customer relationships, this is Kingston, not Montreal or Toronto

I stayed at the Four Points in Kingston on business May 30/11. This hotel is located close to the waterfront in the middle of shopping and restaurants. The room was fairly basic with comfortable sheets and a nice duvet along with standard amenities such as shampoo, conditioner and lotion. They were typical hotel items, nothing to write home about. This hotel did provide a mini Scope, comb and little kit with a nail file and cotton balls which you don’t often see. The hotel restaurant had a nice wine selection and lobster ravioli with plenty of fresh vegetables as a specialty which I had for dinner. Breakfast was included with my room rate and was made to order at the same restaurant. I ordered poached eggs on toast which was served with a nice selection of fruit on the plate which I really appreciated and enjoyed. If you are looking for a great way to kill an hour, consider the historic trolley ride not far from the hotel. For about $15 it takes you on a tour through some of the historic areas of Kingston giving you a real feel for the city. I recommend this hotel if you want to be close to the water and appreciate comfort and convenience.

My boyfriend and I stayed in a junior suite with two friends for one night. The room was located on the Starwood Preferred Guest floor (seems worth it to sign up for the loyalty program, why not). The floor was spacious and quiet, and the room opened into a small alcove with wood flooring, useful for the snow-covered boots and shoes. There was a small living room with a bar fridge and pull-out couch and a window that looked out onto Market Square and the city. The small bedroom (plush, but felt small...maybe due to all the pillows) also had a view of the city and a tiny balcony. The bathroom was located next to the entraceway and had doors to the main area as well as the bedroom. The place was clean and well-lit, and we had no problems with water supply or pressure. The bathroom products appear to be no-name, but it might be a fancy brand going for a minimalist look. The remotes for the TVs were a bit picky, not that we spent much time watching TV what with being so close to downtown. My friends on the real bed complained that it was too soft, so I suppose it depends on how you like your beds. I was on the pull-out bed...I slept alright, but I can sleep well on almost anything.

The restaurant downstairs is great, based on previous experience, but we opted for two other ones down the block - lots of pubs and restaurants nearby. There's a public library, a grocery store, and a liquor store within a few blocks , in addition to a large arena that features hockey games for the local junior team and major concerts. Royal Military College is visible across the river and Queen's University is about the same distance in the opposite direction.

The service was friendly enough, I didn't have much contact with the front desk staff after check-in. We weren't able to take advantage of the internet, the pool or other amenities, but the Globe and Mail at my door in the morning was nice. FYI, you can opt out of the newspaper and get $0.75 credited to your bill; I didn't realize till I was reading the back of my bill after I checked out. Checkout was painless as well. The HST charges can be confusing because they break it up in a few different ways, but no problems with undue charges or anything.

The only thing that really stuck out for me was the ice bucket - it's kind of cheap-looking blue canvas and stands out in the room of finished wood and neutral tones. There's a note on it that you'll be charged if you take it, it looks that disposable.

Definitely more business-like than romantic or cozy, but it was more than adequate for our needs.
