I'd read the reviews on here, and google and a variety of other places but decided to risk it and stay here because of the cheap price. My partner and I had braced for the worst, willing to tough it out for two nights. And I've got to say that we actually did not have a bad stay.

First off, the gentleman who greeted us at the desk was friendly and very helpful. Before checking in we asked if we had an option of rooms, and we were offered a fully renovated room on the second floor.

The room itself was more then big enough, included a mini fridge and microwave. A pedestal sink with a vanity outside the bathroom. The bathroom had another new pedestal sink, an okay toilet, and a new shower with a curved shower curtain rod for extra room. The bed was comfy and clean. With those amazingly comfortable howard johnson pillows.

It's the doors that betrayed the age of the place. Both the bathroom and front door looked like they were on their last legs. Since this is a motel it was especially unnerving having a rickety front door. It stuck when trying to open or close it. At times I wasn't sure it had actually locked.

I'm not sure if this is normal for them, but the complimentary continental breakfast consisted of a loaf of bread with peanut butter and jam. A couple of fruits, yogurt (score for that), rice krispie squares and granola bars. Variety of teas, typically horrible hotel coffee and OJ. I was hoping for croissants, muffins and maybe a donut. Any kind of pastry, but oh well!
The pool outside was not open and looked particularly sketchy!

All in all, I would say that when you reserve you should ask for a fully renovated room if its available. If its not renovated, I don't know ..
But we got what we asked for.

This place was disgusting and overpriced. The carpet was filthy with pet hair and crumbs, etc. The towels were like rags and you had to go to the front office to get ice from the clerk. The breakfast had two bags of bread laid out and people had to put their hands in the bags to get a piece-thus leaving germs all over every piece. They had a semi trailer stored in the parking lot and taking up about 8 spaces so some people were told to park elsewhere.

since my daughter was going to school in Kingston, I've been here a number of times over the years. We've never really settled on any one place and have as a result tried a number of places in the city. I must say that this hotel/inn is the worst of the bunch. While it is clean enough, everything is old and the place should probably have been renovated 10 years ago.

First of all, it's not a hotel but is motel. Most of the HoJo's I've stayed in where hotels so I assumed they all were. This is clearly a old-style motel - 2 stories with all rooms opening to the outside (ie no inside hallways). That in itself is not necessarily bad. The issue i have is that the place needs to be updated. The door to the room did not close easily and the bathtub seals needed to be redone.

If you are really in a pinch for a place to stay, this would be ok but you really should take a look else where. We will definitely not be staying here again.
