“Well Priced for location and quality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

The Hotel is located right downtown on the waterfront, at the end of the main shopping area downtown. Very walkable to stores, restaurants, bars etc. Parking is in a lot beside the hotel.
The rooms are classic, nicely appointed, clean and spacious. We had a room facing the lake, which gave a lovely view and we could see the windmill farm in the distance.
The pool and exercise room is beautiful, light and airy with views facing the harbour and lake. We will definitely come back - it is clean, convenient, safe, the staff are courteous and friendly, and the location can't be beat.

We just stayed here this past weekend as my daughter was in a competition. I chose this through Hotwire, and got a great rate. The check in was quick, and friendly. The parking was way better than the other hotel I stayed at, the Raddisson. Although it is $14.00 a night, the location is key, so it was worth it. Lots of space to park. We had a room facing the water, room 517. Wow! what a view. The rooms were redone recently, and it was nice. I liked the idea of the signs on the pillows to indicate what firmess you like in pillows..that was a first! Beds were very comfortable. TV was nice, although the odd time the reception was off and on. Wifi for my tablet gave no problems.
The room has a balcony which you can open and sit outside...on a hot day this would be a great place to hang around!
The only concern was the shower..the handle is a little tricky to maneuver so I don't recommend small kids to play around with the faucet as it's very easy to get burned...I had to make sure my daughter's shower wasn't too hot.
The pool is nice, still a little cool for my taste. The Jacuzzi was loud and not very strong. The workout area is also in the same vincinity.not really amazing..the usual weights and tredmills.
The Goodlife is within walking distance. There was live entertainment on the patio outside, again, on a nice summer day, this would be great to experience. Because it's right downtown, there are many places to eat and shop within walking distance..park your car and walk around!
Overall, really enjoyed this hotel, and I would recommend it!

Dear sylvie.mac,

What a delight reading your review this afternoon regarding your recent stay at Holiday Inn Kingston Waterfront.

Thank you for the detailed review of the wonderful features of our hotel and also thank you for patronizing our DOX Restaurant and Patio while you were with us. Due to recent construction in Downtown Kingston, our cable reception was, at times, a little fuzzy. I am pleased to report the construction is complete and our reception issues have been solved.

We look forward to welcoming you back soon!

Warm Regards,

My husband and I chose this hotel because of its location. It is right on the waterfront across the street from the City Hall. Our balcony actually overlooked the ferry terminal. So far, it sounds perfect, doesn't it? Well, unfortunately, a few things marred the experience. One, being non-smokers ourselves, who wants to sit on their balcony breathing in smoke? Not us! A staff member (we later saw him) was using the area below us for his smoke break. This is inexcusable! As for the room itself, well, I wasn't pleased with being without a lightswitch in the bathroom. You could only turn on the light from a switch beside the main entrance. This proved annoying when I had to get up in the middle of the night. As for the bed, it was a few years past its due date. We were in a room with two queen-sized beds, but both were worn. During the night, the two of us rolled into the middle of the sagging mattress of our chosen bed. Regarding the bathroom, the shower-head was not easy to figure out. I think that taking a shower should not be at all complicated, but in this case, it was. All in all, the price of this hotel was expensive enough that we should not have had these issues.

Room Tip: Ask for a room above the second floor facing the water.

Booked two rooms fro Sun til Tuesday so we could look around the beautiful City of kingston and find a rental accomodation for my son for Sept. 2013 so he can attend Queens for graduate studies. What a great location this hotel has! overlooks the lake and I booked two adjoining rooms overlooking the harbour and boat docks as well as the park in front of City Hall. Very quiet, left my balcony door open all night without disturbance. Rooms are nothing special but clean and bed was very comfortable. Free fresh coffee in the morning at the lobby, staff friendly and informative. Front parking lot outside for $14.00 per night, pricey but nice to have as once you are there you can park the car and walk everywhere. Tim Hortons across the parking lot. Lots of fabulous old buildings, bistro's, music bars, open air seating, little specialty restaurants, shops , bus trolley rides for viewing the city of Kingston and 1000 Island boat trips just outside the back door of the hotel. All sitting along the gorgeous front of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. We found my son a terrific one bedroom apart on the same street so he will be living in a wonderful area for the next three years!

Room Tip: ask for lake view rooms. we had ours on the fourth floor. they do overlook the outside seating area...

Stopped here on our road trip around Lake Ontario.
Kingston is a nice little town on the Canadian side, right at the point where the St. Lawrence River leaves Lake Ontario, close to the 1000 Islands area. Kingston itself has a lot to offer, with nice restaurants and bars and Fort Henry as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it's a great place to spend a day or two.
The Holiday Inn is a little too "modern" in it's architecture for the quaint city but offered us a great stay right on the lakefront and in walking distance to pretty much everything Kingston has to offer. The rooms were nicely sized and the beds very comfortable.
The spa area had a gym, pool, hot tub and sauna, all in one very open room with big glass windows. Great setup and very nicely maintained.
The food at the hotel restaurant was really good too, we had lunch there and breakfast. the breakfast buffet had a lot of choices for every taste and the quality of the food was good to.

Two things I was a little unhappy about:
They charged $14 per day for parking... during the off-season in a small town like Kingston that shouldn't be necessary.
They only included 2 free breakfasts per room, although I booked one room with 3 adults and breakfast included. Charging for that extra breakfast was unnecessary in my opinion and dampened the otherwise good customer experience.

My husband and I were in town for a conference and we really enjoyed our stay at the Kingston waterfront. In fact, we enjoyed our stay so much that we extended our reservation by two days. Room was flawless, decor nice, staff (and guests!) stand-out courteous. Super comfy beds. The indoor pool is lovely (though small), with a full view of the lake through floor-length glass windows. It's worth it to pay for the very reasonably-priced breakfast.

Room Tip: They're all great, really. Ours had a lovely lake view.
