“A Decent Stay - Overwhelmed Staff on Busy Long Weekend”
Reviewed October 13, 2012 via mobile

This Residence Inn is typical of the chain - though newer than most I'm familiar with. Our room was great for kids - lots of space though would be very tight for a long stay. Worked well for our dog, walking paths along the lake are steps away. The hotel is also well located for humans, with good coffee, shops and an outdoor market nearby.

Staff were having a tough time though this Thanksgiving weekend - there were a good number of unhappy guests at the front desk every time I passed by. The staff, who are quite young, could have done with some help from management. Things seemed to get worse as the weekend went on.

Overall, we were content with one exception. Breakfast, which was included in the room rate was abysmal. Eggs were a stomach turning yellow pudding, sausages an artificial jelly tube that tasted like raw hot dogs. Very poor - unusual for a Residence Inn, perhaps the kitchen needs to spend time at another property to see how breakfast could be done.

Good morning and thank you for posting your comments, we really appreciate it.

I am delighted that you enjoyed so many aspects of your recent stay with us but am dissapointed that we failed to impress you with our complimentary breakfast. I will share this comment with my Director of Food And Beverage in order that we can evaluate our offerings. We do follow a very strict breakfast programme which is set by Marriott, this being said I will still check to see that we are complient. All our Front Desk Agents are fully trained in being ``Manager on Duty`` and I am not aware of any outstanding issues leading from this weekend. I will double check this and thank you for bringing your thoughts to my attention.
I look forward to welcoming you back to Kingston, hopefully very soon.

I reserved a two bedroom suite weeks in advance of our stay, because my husband and I were traveling with our children (3 months and 2 years) and wanted at least some of us to be sleeping some of the time. We called to confirm they had our reservation the afternoon of our stay, and there was to be no problem. However, when we arrived, they told us the room was "unavailable". In fact, the hotel was full and it was clear they had given our room away. They then offered us two single hotel rooms, that did not adjoin, which clearly was no help to us. Ended up staying in a "Studio Suite", which had a bed and a crappy pull out couch (which was not even made up). For two days, no one in my family slept. Very disappointed that we were baldly lied to about our reservation and very disappointed that no apologies or other accomodations were offered. For the price, I expected much more.

We spent one night here on (Canadian) Thanksgiving and we liked it.
Suites are large and comfortable (it was a short stay, can't comment on how one would see them on longer stays), with a full kitchen (you can even order groceries from your room!)
The pool is OK, hot tub rather small, sauna is good (one inside of each of the M/F lockers).
Good views of the lake (probably great on a higher floor; we've been on 4th), a very good restaurant on site (less than 25% full on a Sunday evening).
Parking is CAD 15 a night (plus taxes).
It's a good choice (although more expensive than other Residence Inn hotels), we plan to return.

Just came back after a great trip to Kingston, ON. With three young kids & my sister staying, we loved the 2 bedroom suite - clean, quiet, well equipped rooms with a beautiful view over lake Ontario. Buffet breakfast was enjoyed by all and an easy walk into Kingston town center ! Could not ask for more. Definitely exceeded my expectations.

On the waterfront within a short walk of downtown Kingston. Beautiful views of the city, water, islands, etc. Great convenience of their suites with kitchenettes. Good buffet breakfast in the morning. Very clean and very friendly service!

Room Tip: Best rooms towards the waterfront (east side).

With its amazing views, kitchenette, large spacious rooms, and ideal setting downtown, this Inn offers great pricing with convenience and comfort. Excellent sea views and service was prompt (they let us check in early as well which was much appreciated).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with sea or partial sea view

Beautiful property overlooking the water - lovely suite appropriate for more than two people. Staff were friendly and helpful - morning breakfast was more than continental - another surprise. Many restaurants in the area within walking distance. Our expectations were more than we expected.

Room Tip: Loved the suite - top floor
