The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra has a history longer than a century, I can share with my 3 season experience as a volunteer. Since the beginning it was a great adventure regarding not only music played by the orchestra - world famous masterworks and pop series with many noble guests, but also fantastic people "behind the scenes" - both staff and volunteers. Don't hesitate to say "hi" to Carol, Heather, Diana or Gerry when visiting Hamilton Place for the HPO concert. And if you are under 35, you will be surprised by the price of your ticket.
Your music experience can be enhanced with attending Pre-Concert Chat or Conductor's Circle. Programs distributed during each concert are helpful as well. There are also some outdoor events, like concerts during annual "The Sounds of Music" in Burlington. Each event is a great lesson, a dose of humor and unforgettable music exploration. Many concerts end with a standing ovation.
You really don't have to travel to experience a world class symphony. Yes - there is a great orchestra in Hamilton!
