Great place to meet and go for walk. Scenery is nice and there are a few stops along the path with parks for kids. Parking isn't great and because of the area there I would not let my kids out of sight for a second so never really feel relaxed there.

I was walking in the old sections of Hamilton just shopping and taking pictures, etc. when I stumbled across the gardens of Gage Park. It was a nice respite from the rest of the largely run down neighborhood.

Gage Park is a wonderful spot with all of the mature trees, children's playground and splash pad and the lovely greenhouse. We go often and enjoy visiting the turtles and looking at the unique greenery.

Before I moved here I visited this park and was delighted by the vast expanse, the quiet, and the lovely staffer who confided in me that Gage Park is the "best kept secret in Hamilton". It boasts a greenhouse that is open to the pubic year-round, 2 play areas for kids, more than 200 different types of trees (the story is that the guy who started (?), owned (?) the park would accept trees as gifts from visiting dignitaries (but nothing else) so there are trees from all over the world here. I don't know how valid that statement is but I think you'll be amazed by the park. In the winter the glow from the light standards and trees make the journey around the path a beautiful walk, especially if it's snowing. There are no commercial enterprises in the park... it's truly a quiet, reflective place for people (and dogs, too, but they must be kept on leash).
