My wife and I ate at Vallechiara following the recommandation of the guide at Antro del Corchia (the deep cave in Corchia mountain). The cook (and owner, I think) of Vallechiara is a speleologist, and she was actually hosting the speleology club the evening we went. We received the warmest welcome and were sat at a table with the nicest view on the surrounding forest. The evening reached near perfection when the food arrived. We had walked all day so we were happy to see a large plate of antipasti (picture) arrive, with lardo and pastri, raw ham, salame, two pieces of pizza, and a bunch of other things. Followed tordellis, the local pasta, and a large piece of veal accompanied by a plate of spinach. The table wine was good too (bottle with a Vallechiara label), and so was the desert (home made flourless cake with pralines - excellent). We highly recommend this restaurant for the service and the food. Great for families and couples, especially after a long walk in Alpi Apuane. We travelled for two weeks in Italy (Cinque Terre - Alpi Apuane - Tuscany) and we think our dinner at Vallechiara was the best quality/quantity value. 50 euros for a ton of quality food, wine and lemoncelo included, that's hard to beat.
