Elixir was a refreshing find. The environment was peaceful and elegant, with a few French bistro touches, but not over done. The food was all freshly prepared and carefully seasoned.
We had the daily soup which was a smoothly blended green lentil with turmeric ... outstanding, The veal stew in white sauce was rich, flavourful, and filling. The meat was fall apart tender, the mushrooms were perfectly cooked, the seasoning was subtle, and the overall result was excellent. The Caesar salad was crisp, bite sized, with just enough crisp bacon, fresh parmesan, and croutons. The croutons were nicely sized, not the huge chunks that seem to have invaded the market.
The one disappointment was the red sauce on the pasta. The sauce was lacking in flavour, the slices of hot sausage were too big. and the pasta was slightly over cooked. But then, we should have stuck to French food in a French bistro!
We will definitely be back to try some of the other French dishes that looked very tempting.
