“Outstanding!”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

Fantastic Indian food, fresh, incredibly tasty, the owners are constantly tweaking the menu and the restaurant's atmosphere, and best of all the owners are really nice genuine people. Mango Chutney truly is a place you should experience if your in the area, you'll come back. And if you like great beer, try the Dead Elephant, it's a local beer that's truly great. Enjoy

“Complete dining out pleasure”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

Last week we were driving towards Cambridge Ontario from Ottawa. We googled best restaurants in Cambridge and found that Mango Chutney was number one in Cambridge. Not only that - it is literally seconds off Highway 401, at exit 286, in a small but attractive plaza just behind a Petro Canada clearly visible from the 286. Phone 519 624-9772 for info/directions. We rarely splurge but we did here based on having fasted all day, a long awaited travel date with my wife, the restaurant's good reputation and the heady fragrance of well-mixed cooked spices we breathed in deeply in as we entered. And we got every one of our our 6900 pennies worth (tip and tax included, no drinks)! The next night we dined at a place at less than half the cost and it was a real come down, although we mused whether we might have felt it was OK if we hadn't tried Mango Chutney. The sarson fish tikka appetiser had a slightly charred edge which I love, was plentiful, delicate and delectable, with a cilantro dipping sauce and small salad on the side. We chose the combination of three main courses portions - Shum Savera which was a spinach and delicate cottage cheese dish in a rich sauce, Channa Pindi which was a hearty chickpeas with greens and ginger and Karahi Chicken in a tangy, tomato garlic sauce; these came with six half pieces of naan and rice. The masala tea and warm and the sweet gulab jam and ras malai desserts were to die for, especially the latter; if we lived in the area, for sure we would be frequently buying the ras malai here, with cardomon and saffron. My very proper wife shocked me (sic) by threatening to lick the ras malai dish! We also liked the popular Indian music which was light and happy. I like traditional Indian music but this wasn't Bollywoodish and we enjoyed it in the background. I should also mention the attentive and thoughtful service of one of the owners - Sunny (Shivdeep). Sunny told us that the food is kept light, they avoid heavy cremes and the curries are all gluten free. They do a good take-out business as well. Decor is light, modern. I am no foodie so this is my first review which sounds like this! Enjoy!

“Delicious! (vegan & gluten free)”
Reviewed March 2, 2013 via mobile

Visited once and will be returning regularly! The restaurant decor is simple and crisp with attentive and helpful service. The menu offers a variety of vegan and gluten free dishes that are packed with flavour. There is a combo available that includes 2 main dishes served with naan bread and basmati rice, highly recommended. We also ordered samosas for take out which are a good size and come with a delicious sweet/tangy sauce. Fantastic!
