Hello Helena,

The baby shower at the hotel was great, the staff were so helpful and kind, and had the room set up perfect for us. Our guests have never been to a baby shower at a hotel and most said they never even thought of it as a venue, but they will now. Thank you and the staff at the Four Points for making my daughters baby shower a great success. All the best, Jennifer

I had a two queen room. TV is nice, nice desk work surface, nice bathroom. The bed were comfortable. Location was good for highway access, but a little drive to Waterloo. Breakfast was good for the price. Service was always friendly. Was not fond of the elf closing bathroom door, but a minor thing.

Room Tip: AAA rate

I am a frequent visitor of this hotel. And by frequent, I mean weekly. I have been staying here since September 2010.

As the other reviews state, this property is very clean with a modern Ikea type feel. The gym is smallish, but has the basic (and I mean basic) necessities. The hotel staff is incredibly friendly and after they have seen you a couple of times welcome you by name without referring to your reservation. All in all it is a very comfortable, clean property.

It has some quirks, though. For one, the bathroom doors in the guest rooms have an automatic closing feature which is extremely annoying. The easy fix would be to provide some type of door stop, however a suitcase bag works just as well.

The shower faucet handles are tricky too in that some are so hard to turn that they take two hands (and I am a fairly strong guy) while others seem to get "stuck" in either a cold zone (meaning you can't turn the handle into the hot water zone) or otherwise are difficult to control from a temperature perspective. The shower heads, on the other hand, give a really nice shower unless you are staying in a "suite" at which point you have a hand held variety akin to shower for disabled patrons (which it clearly is not intended for because it is in a bathtub versus a wheelchair accessible shower).

The showers are of a nice, glass enclosed variety with bright white subway tiles. The doors are equally tricky, however, in that some are not properly installed with little to no play between the door and the glass enclosure. When you open these they squeal terribly as the glass edges rub against each other, and if they close too quickly you fear that the door could actually shatter. My last shower enclosure showed signs of chipped glass from just this very thing.

The restaurant is fine for breakfast, but an absolute last choice for dinner. Therenis very little if anything that is truly healthy on the menu. For a road warrior, this is actually a big problem. Too much fat, overly processed and way too much salt (btw, I actually over salt my food most of the time, and their menu is almost too salty for me). And, there is zero variety just a fixed menu that never changes. Additionally, don't expect a quick meal if you choose to dine in. The service is slooooooooow and the servers seem to be confused most of the time. This was the only reason that I gave a 3 rating versus a 4 or 5 for service. If you do have breakfast in the morning, they have two options...a continental breakfast or a hot breakfast. If you get the less expensive continental breakfast you really need to check your bill when you pay out. I have frequently been charged for a hot when all I got was continental. Also, their coffee is TERRIBLE. Save your coffee for either Starbucks or Tim Hortons, both of which are a very short drive from the hotel. You would also think that since there is no club lounge on property that they would comp breakfast for their platinum level guests which is a standard practice for the Marriott chain, but this Starwood property does not do that.

Let's be honest here...there aren't a lot of great alternatives in the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge area for hotels, and this is probably one of the better ones that is not a full on resort. The Delta Kitchener is horrible, the Hampton in is in decline, and the Raddison has it's own issues (although much better dining alternatives!). With that field, this property stands out like a gem, and as I said the staff is very, very friendly. It does tend to fill up as Research in Motion traveling employees and contractors tend to gravitate there, so if you want to stay you should probably plan ahead.

We stayed at this property for one night in late March 2011.

Rooms were clean with a bright and modern decor. Everything looked and felt new.

Beds were excellent.....extremely comfortable and we all got a great sleep.

Our family (two adults and a teenager) loved the bathroom with the large stand-up shower, but those travelling with small children take note: the room did not have a bathtub. Perhaps some rooms do (maybe you could request one?), but several other families travelling with us also had similar accomodations. Bathing a small child would be difficult.

The pool was small, and we chose not to swim. Unfortunately, there was no hot tub (which we definitely would have used if there was).

The fridge and microwave in the room were handy to have and a nice perk.

We got a great rate with an advance purchase (booked via the Four Points website), paying only $94 taxes included for the Friday stay. Great value.

Free wireless internet was included, but we had difficulty connecting at one point during the evening (and slow speeds for an hour or so afterward). This seemed to rectify itself after a period of time.

Customer service at check-in was passable (quick and efficient, but not the friendliest). The front desk attendant at check-out was extremely personable, and left a lasting positive impression on check out.

Overall, a very good stay.

Four Points hotel locates just next to high way 401. I found it is very easy to access the hotel. It takes about less than an hour to get there from Toronto International airport by car. This hotel is newly built recently. It is just a little over year. I stayed in this hotel for business trips. I found that the staffs in the hotel are professional, friendly and helpful. They try very hard to help their customers. They know their customers by names not by room numbers and provide service for each customer needs. I specially want to say my thanks to hotel staff Rachel, Brain and Kait for the helps that they have provided. I enjoyed my stays in this hotel and I highly recommend staying in this hotel when you are in that area.in that area.

Being a frequent patron of this hotel, I've come to appreciate the consistent customer service qualities of the front desk staff and the restaurant.

I'm otherwise a Marriott Platinum Rewards holder, but there aren't great Marriott brand hotels in the area. The only other Fairfield Inn did not come as highly recommended (distance was an issue as well).

Frontdesk staff Rachel, Virginia and Jee are just fantastic and are the very epitome of customer service, and are always cheerful.

Chef Dheeraj and Hemanta from the restaurant, as well as Rebecca, Sladjana and rest of the staff go out of their way to make you comfortable.

Being an hour away from Toronto, there are several other hotels in the area but none as good as the Four Points, which offers free wifi, free full breakfast, and also a bonus - bottled water. Also, special requests are taken care of.

Although there have been a few kinks, they have gotten ironed out over the months (Sporadic internet drops got resolved over the US thanksgiving weekend- thankfully for me, I have Rogers speedstick as backup, but haven't had to use the speedstick even once).

They have a neat gym and a salt water pool for those who prefer the indoors when its cold.

The hotel is located conveniently in the K-W suburbs, and is convenient for tourists in the summer (the African Lion Safari, Butterfly Conservatory, are among local attractions). There are a few good restaurants in the K-W area- Ye's Sushi, WildCraft, Charcoal, Borealis.

Being close to the University district, there are a few other good restaurants in Waterloo as well. I haven't ventured into the Guelph area enough to comment.

For family vacationers, there's a Costco in the neighborhood. For the littleones, there is a Marble Slab Creamery (equivalent of the US Cold Stone Creamery), Cinemas, Boston Pizza and more.

Wishlist items:
- High on my list would be an upgrade on bed linen.Sheets and blankets are scratchy and stiff, but then I'm used to high-TC sateen cotton sheets at home ;-)
- Restaurant menu variety is not extensive and I can understand why, but it would be refreshing if they kept changing the dishes.
- Housekeeping staff need to be reminded about special requests such as pillows repeatedly, but I'm hoping this is an easy fix and not a deal breaker at all
- Toiletries seem a little harsh on the skin in the winter, and skin lotions don't seem functional in the winter. Thank goodness Spring is here.
- To sum it up, this is a cozy, well maintained hotel with no deal breakers, and with nice, friendly folks.Highly recommended for business travel as well as for family vacationers.

The pictures of the hotel do not do it justice. It is a clean, fresh and modern hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The rooms are clean, comfortable and fairly spacious. There was a fridge and microwave in our room as well as free internet in the lobby. The exercise room was also well equipped. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Cambridge.
