“Amazing food!”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

This may have been the best lamb I have ever had. My girlfriend had the tenderloin and that was amazing as well. Even the dessert was great. Would go back anytime. It is pretty expensive, but definitely worth it for a special occasion.

“Disgusting!”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

Wow. We made reservations for Spencer's last night to celebrate our son's birthday. We arrived at 5:30 seated at 5:35. We were given menus. We waited...and waited 5 mins., 10 mins, 15, 20 - not even a drink order. Then a young man at an adjacent table threw up. Over the table and ground. The parent made an effort to clean it up, but no staff came to assist. the smell was bad. 25 mins, 30 mins, We just got up and left. The hostess said "thanks for coming" NEVER NEVER NEVER again will I go there. It's also my mission to alert others of our experience. Terrible Restaurant!!!

“been to brunch and dinner”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

This is a great place. Brunch has a lot of selection, and everything tastes great. dinner was equally as good if not better. had the beer battered brie, the foie gras, i cant remember the main dish but it was all very good.
Place has a great view of the lake, especially if you go there during the summer and get a spot on balcony.

only complaint was the round booths for the brunch, would be very difficult to get up and get food with a large group. It is also a bit expensive but high quality food.

“Great but expensive”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

One of Burlingtons finest restaurants, great food selection and excellent staff but it is very expensive. Sizes of servings are not that great so don't come here with a large appetite.

“Sunday Brunch Variety and Outstanding Service”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

My wife and I went with some friends and their children today for a first experience at Spencer's (May 5, 2013). Amazing weather helped the day as we couldn't get reservations in advance, but a 10:30AM arrival did not have a problem to get a table on the outdoor patio - the weather was outstanding. Great variety of food, best advice is to look around first, for folks like us and our friends who don't eat pork - shellfish etc. initially we were concerned because they seem to put pork in everything such as the potato hash, perogies (not in them but cooked with them), and more, (but our server and Spencer's staff in general were extremely quick to custom order the food to your needs - excellent service - so in the end this was not an issue at all). I recommend heading first for the kitchen window area, lots of great dishes to choose from and get it served up directly from the kitchen. Our only surprise was the omlette station, the person on it was very pleasant and later had asked if our previous omlettes were satisfactory etc. - but he had no clue how to flip omlettes, we asked and he has been there for 5 months (so either this is not a natural career for him, or no one is mentoring him how to look after this station, he's a good customer service oriented guy - but he needs mentoring on this station). The larger frypan was also one of the non-stick that seemed on its last legs (Strange to use that outside with customers inches away to see it). This was not much of a turn-off because he was so nice, but we thought it strange for a Sunday Brunch at this type of establishment to not ensure a brunch omlette station to be spectacular. For my money the crepes and the waffles are alone worth the price of admission - variety of fresh berries, real whipped cream and maple syrup, excellent waffle/crepe etc.

We very much appreciated the service, outstanding (incl. good with the kids). Good food, the variety, and the customised willingess of the kitchen made for a great brunch. This commentary wouldn't be complete without stating the obvious that others know about, the location and setting (modern glass building) along the lakeside is great. Some reviewers here talk about the high price (obviously many of them don't get out much), but if you make use of Spencer's full range of services it becomes excellent value that's hard to beat. (we were not charged for the younger children adding even greater value for us overall)
