Reviewed May 16, 2013

Fish and chips, Wings, Nachos allll goooooooooood.

The pizzas are very small single serving that could do with some work, but they are pretty tasty!

Always order take out, haven't eaten in yet. Good food!

“A Great New Find”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

We came upon this restaurant by accident. It's located in a small strip mall. We weren't sure what to expect, but it was handy for us and neither of us felt like going anywhere else so we decided to give it a try. We were both pleasantly surprised. Very good food and service and a great wine list too. We'll definitely be back!

“The Windjammer By The Lake Bar and Grill - The Food is AWESOME!”
Reviewed October 24, 2011

Newly opened, this resto is in our neighborhood.

Having at least 4 previous incarnations under different owners, we were cautiously apprehensive the first time we went, but were hoping that it would satisfy.
We weren't dispappointed.

The Windjammer has been completely overhauled, walls ripped out, new bar, carpet and flooring, seating and layout. The existing fireplace in the dining room was kept....more TV's with satellite added for sports events, and the place is super clean.
And by that, I mean the ladies rooms as well as the dining area.
An important detail.

Our first visit, my hubby had the curry Bombay style with chicken, and I had the liver and onions. It's tough to get liver right but these guys do it, it was tender and delish.
The heap of liver sitting on top of fresh mashed spuds was topped with onions, bacon and gravy made from scratch.
The curry was aromatic, and had great flavor, with just the right bite. It can be turned up notch if you so desire...just ask.
Another visit, we split chicken wings, nicely sized, with a generous serving of fresh hot fries beneath, and some veggies & dip.
Another visit: we split a huge tray of nachos with chicken on top, and some garlic bread. Again, no disappointments! All hot and super tasty.

This past weekend, I had the special, Blackened Tilapia, and my hubby had the large
Jambalaya, (which was a huge portion...).
The Tilapia was perfect, flaky, and had a nice afterburn from the blackening.
A home made garnish of tomatoes, red onions and fresh herbs were on top.
The veggies are served "with a bone in them", meaning they not cooked to mush, and are tender but firm. Both were served over long grain rice that was cooked exactly right.

There was a birthday party in a private area beside us, and it sounded like everyone was having a great time. Food and drinks were flowing in and out of the room, and I regretted
not ordering the ribs.
Next time!!

The owner, Raj, and his brother are in the kitchen.
They both wander out occasionally to see how things are going, and say hello. They want your feedback about the quality of the food they are serving, and your over all experience.
They want to make this place work, and they have started out great.

NO complaints here, boys!!

Their rule of thumb is everything fresh...thus far it has all been just that, and it has been a wonderful experience for us to finally have another good eatery so close to home.
Reasonably priced, portions very generous, quick and attentive service, a menu that offers varied choices, the old stand by's and some new twists on things.
The evening barkeep, Ginz, is very energetic, friendly and super eager to please.
He's a great tender, and keeps everyone happy in the bar part of the establishment.
Floor staff in the dining room are attentive, polite and very professional.

The restaurant is located in a strip mall on the corner of Hampton Heath Road and Lakeshore Road.
Be sure to visit soon - you won't be sorry!!
