Chalsa is a place about two hours drive from Bagdogra, which is the nearest airport. Set among the lush green tea estates and overlooking the Dooars Valley. The rooms are set among trees and overlooks a valley. The sunset is amazing to watch from the watch tower, which overlooks a wonderful pool. The food is quite good. This is an ideal place for someone to put up their feet for a few days, to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life

Room Tip: Choose a room with numbers 166 and above

About 2 – 3 hours by road from Bagdogra, this property in the Dooars foothills is a nice place to base yourself at for a 2-3 day trip of the area. Our team of 28 including Senior Management employees had an amazing experience with nature in this picturesque surrounding of Dooars .
The food is very decent - in fact much better than what you get at pricier resorts in more famous holiday locations. The breakfast spread was excellent too. The warmth and hospitality of the staff made our experience more memorable.
Though the resort dont encourage room service but the staff & specially the Manager is courteous enough to oblige.
The rooms are big with modern amenities but needs renovation as most of the doors & locks are out of commission.
It has a small library to idle away your time has good indoor activities like table tennis ( the board requires repairing) , chess etc. Has outdoor activity facilities like badminton courts ( not very well maintained though ) and an awesome swimming pool very well maintained.
The open spaces & gardens are well maintained & attract different species of birds.
A highly recommended place for group activities and distressing The hotel hosts a lot of business meetings and conferences, so make sure to check before you book - especially if you are looking for some peace and quiet.
Overall a nice experience.

Stayed for a night with my family during July first week, while going to Timphu, Bhutan. Overall a very nice experience, but the power supply was very bad. They had power back up but the air conditioner had to be turned on every time the power went out, this was quite irritating while you are asleep as you had to keep turning the conditioner on.

The kids enjoyed the pool and the playground, will definable go again to stay in the resort.

The staff and management were very courteous and helpful. there is no room service due to the size of the resort

Dear Mr Namgyal

Thank you for taking the time to review the Sinclairs Retreat Dooars. We are pleased to know that you enjoyed your stay with us. We appreciate your feedback on the power supply and we are in the process of upgrading the system.

Bearing in mind the eco-friendly nature of our resort, we have decided to remove room service as a guest facility. We encourage our guests to walk along the delightfully created walkways around the resort and enjoy food and drinks at our themed outlets - Banyan Tree, The Tusker Bar or Bamboo Grove cafe.

In addition to the pool and playground, we have also launched spa services at the hotel, where we offer a wide range of treatments to refresh the mind, body and soul.

As a valued guest we would like to invite you to visit our our hotels in Siliguri, Darjeeling, Ooty, Port Blair and Bengaluru. We hope you visit us soon!

Warm Regards
Avijit Ghosh

The food is very decent - in fact much better than what you get at pricier resorts in more famous holiday locations. The breakfast spread is awesome too. We went there in the off-season, and the chef specially prepared everything and served it at our table - a far cry from the continuously reheated buffets that are standard fare (however be prepared to live with that if you happen to be there when the resort is full). Our room was massive, with a balcony that opened out to a large green patch that attracted interesting species of local birds. The play areas for kids could be better maintained, though. Very attentive and polite staff - but avoid the car rentals from the hotel as they are a ripoff. We visited Jaldapara, Gorumara etc over a 2-day period. Excellent value for money. And yes - don't forget to negotiate the room rates when you reserve over phone or with their reps in Mumbai etc. The hotel hosts a lot of business meetings and conferences, so make sure to check before you book - especially if you are looking for some peace and quiet.
