We were 10 in our party.I beleive it was about 6 of us ordered the special $19.95 Fettuccine a la mere, every one got a different number of shrimps and mussels. Some of us got 2 shrimp while others had 4 someone had 6 The shrimps were also tough . The waiter was too cockie, he took our complaints as a joke. We are local to the area ,in the hospitality business and will never go back.

This place makes good food an extension of Dinkels, set on the other side of the building, this place is more family oriented and priced for taking out your family. The food is always delicious and service is great. Also a good variety of desserts for all. Great Expresso and Coffee.

We've eaten at Paolo's at least a dozen times over the years, but I have always hesitated to review the restaurant. This is, in part, because it is one of just a handful of reasonably good restaurants in Belleville--which is, after all, a small city and not overly blessed with such amenities.

Paolo's is known for its thin-crust pizzas, which are baked in a wood-fired oven at very high temperatures. The pizza combinations offered range from the prosaic (tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, mushrooms) to the downright weird (pesto, sliced mango, brie, and pine nuts). The pizzas are reasonably large, but the thin crust makes them less filling than their thicker brethren found at competing restaurants...one reasonably hungry person can easily get outside an entire entree-sized pizza. If you add a salad to round out the meal, at roughly $6.00, the per-diner price climbs to between $16 and $20 dollars, and all but the most delicate appetites may find themselves browsing the fridge at home after dinner, looking for something to fill up on. (Let's just say that the bread rolls on the table--one per diner--disappeared quickly.)

I do realize that one is free to order more--an appetizer, soup, a larger salad--in order to stave off the hunger pangs, but that quickly adds up (soup is $5.50, bruschetta $6.75 to 9.00, spinach salad $10.25).

All the above portion-size-quibbles apply mostly to the dinner menu. The lunch menu offers a slightly smaller pizza with an accompanying salad for about $10. Here we find the portion size to be just about right--not so large that you fall asleep at your desk during the afternoon, but not so small that you're tempted to grab a snack on the way back to the office.

Paolo's also offers a nice wine list, with a scattering of local reds and whites from wineries in Prince Edward County, as well as familiar names from vineyards in Italy, France, Chile, the US, and Australia.

If you are looking for a place in Belleville that has a good atmosphere and filling menu this place will do. When I was here we had a large grop who ordered a diversity of thing and as far as I can tell the plates were clean going back. They have a nice wine selection and some good draft beer. Excellent service with fresh bread. Love this place.
