“Save Your Time & Money!”

My husband and I visited Hibachi & Buffet last night for dinner and mutually agreed we would never return or recommend.
The price is absolutely ludicrous. $37.50 for 2 people, extremely poor variety and several empty food stations, and the pleasure of being seated close to what appeared to be the very messy staff gathering area, where many of the young staff members would loudly argue, check their cell phones, complain about cleaning off tables, etc. etc.
I did not try the actual "Hibachi grill" element of this experience (the grill is located beside the sushi bar) but everything else I tried leaned toward the lesser side of "so-so". The advertised "big ticket item" of the menu was king crab legs, but incidently, the buffet does not offer the tools to crack the shell or dig out the meat.
Also, the decor and atmosphere is terrible. Someone needs to get "Restaurant Impossible" in there. Nothing about the various swipings of clashy paint, the gaudy plastic-coated gold furnishings, the tight proximity, poor layout, and total lack of anything that says "inviting" didn't win any points for me, either.
I can't see this place lasting long here. Belleville is a fickle and "cliquey" city that tends to dismiss sub-par eateries very quickly.
Bottom line: save your time and money, and if you are in the mood for a buffet, try give North China or Buffet Gardens a try. Cheaper and less appaling all around.

“Decent Buffet”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2012 via mobile

This was our first time here to this relatively new place. We went on a recommendation of a friend. There is a wide variety on the buffet and something for everyone. For comparison, It is about one step down from the North China Buffet and quite a few steps down from the Mandarins in the Toronto area.

A couple of downsides include a limited salad selection and quite soft hard ice cream. Also, some bafflers could be incorporated into the setup. It was not overly busy when we were there but the sound level was fairly high. I would guess that it would be significant during busy times. All in all, we would go back.

“Go on a friday!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2012

We showed up with 4 kids, four adults and we were seated right away. Drink refills took a little while, but we couldn't find our waitress! They don't charge for 5 and under, that is awesome. And for adults $18.99 for the buffet, which on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays includes mussels, t-bone steak & crab legs. Everything was piping hot, and they were constantly refilling the containers. When we left the restaurant was almost full (7pm) They could do better on the dessert side of things, but the food was very filling. Everyone in our party left with a full belly, probably too full for some!

“Actually Quite Good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2012

Firstly, my wife and I like Chineese buffets and there are several good ones in Belleville. Hibachi is the newest one (I think). We went there because they have Crablegs on the weekends. They also feature T-Bone steak but they are paper thin.

The buffet is generally pretty good. The usual chineese type selections. Crablegs were succulent and meaty. The sushi was one of the better selections. Food was fresh and hot...but that always depends on how busy the retaurant is. If you go really early, the food will be stale and lukewarm (same for any buffet type restaurant). It's not a Mandarin restaurant but neither is the price.

We were seated at a clean table, promptly. The server was attentive, clearing the used dishes in a fairly timely manner but that could be different with a different server. The only thing I didn't like was the atmosphere. It's a "warehouse" with those high ceilings and hard surfaces. They would do well to add some "room dividers" to make it more inviting and deaden the noise level.

When compared to other china buffets in the area it is a couple of dollars higher pricing.

We will return. Better than average.

“Not what we expected.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2012

Food was just ok. For the price, I expected a bit better. I thought there would be more barbecue type foods. A lot of the dishes could use a little more flavor!
