Normally I go to the Boathouse for seafood, but someone recommended this place It took a while to find it, but I am very glad I did. The food was very good (well, with the exception of the burger I had with the surf & turf ... the lobster was nice, but the burger overcooked and dry for my taste). My friends had the halibut and chips and both declared it well worth the trip - very crisp and not over-battered. And they raved about the onion, bacon and potato soup. With a bottle of wine, the bill was $160 including tip for 3 of us for lunch. I'd definitely go again. I would ask, however, that they turn down the music - it was too loud for my liking

We have been to Kalay's only 3 times since they opened but we do not eat out often. That being said, I have not found anywhere that serves seafood to the quality and standard that Kalay's does. The service is outstanding and having been raised in the Eastern Provinces, we appreciate great seafood. If you haven't tried it yet, you really must go! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting and the prices are extremely reasonable. You are greeted with a smile when you come in and when you leave. We are never disappointed when we go there.

An absolute hidden gem! From the moment we stepped into both the seafood shoppe and then the restaurant, we felt like we were in seafood heaven! Authentic NS recipes, freshest seafood, excellent service, friendly and subtle atmosphere with a terrific private events room complete with gourmet kitchen and chef, can't be beat pricing...Kalay's has it all. They even sell their fresh seafood at local farmers markets. The seafood shoppe not only has fresh seafood, but also lobster rolls and some prepared food as well as flash-frozen seafood (cooked and uncooked). They have charming seasonings, gifts, kitchenware, etc. Love it there and always enjoy making the trip out.

This restaurant is a bit off the beaten path in Belleville and a bit hard to find...nestled in the corner of a mall....it is unassuming from the outside..enough that you almost would not enter if you were looking for a grand entrance...we went on a really quiet night and were a bit worried as it was so quiet...it was our 20th anniversary weekend and we were racing at Shannonville Motorsports Park and wanted something just a little bit nicer than the the average Belleville fair. Well this was a surprise...great little wine list. not extensive but decent, great beer list, again small but fine..remember this is a small restaurant, super fun appetizers, fresh seafood, extensive menu, great choices, almost too many. all sizes of entrees, the staff was very nice and tried really hard to make our night special...it is not haute cuisine but for a seafood restaurant in Belleville it is really good and really homey....I would recommend if you just want a great seafood meal...of course you find better in Montreal or Toronto..but kudos to Belleville!!

Owner brings in fish, shelfish and other Maritime delicacies fresh daily. Terrific lobster rolls, great fish and chips and they even have gluten free desserts
