Although the property is nice, it is extremely overpriced for the quality of service and the ammenities. Staff are more interested in taking phone calls than showing guests to their rooms. One staff member seems to run the entire operation. Breakfast, which is included in the room rate consisted of one plate with two muffins and a bit of cantelope, 2 bottles of juice. No choice is given on what you get for breakfast. The coffee maker in the room was broken. The room felt dusty and underused, furniture was too large for the room size, with a very tiny washroom. At half the price this would have been fine, but with a total bill of $350. plus tax for one night, it is far to expensive.

We read the reviews and looked forward to using this hotel as a base for a drive around the area.
The people who received us were friendly and helpful. The hotel is an old house with big rooms , but an austere/spooky atmosphere. It feels like it ought to be haunted.
The room was reasonably clean, though a little worse for wear. The shower had the loudest clunking door. The windows were at least draught proof and reasonably sound proofed too.
Worse than this, we paid $200 a night for the room.
I feel sick, when I consider that we could have had one of the nicest rooms at the fab looking Taboo Resort!
If you are not mobile this hotel is not accessible for you.

We stayed one night in July 2007 on a weekend. Was a very comfortable stay and very clean unique hotel. All the rooms had ensuite kitchenettes and private bath.

There were only 3 rooms on main floor and no elevator as it's an histroic converted home so reserve on main floor if you have trouble with stairs or heavy luggage.

Location was great very close to all down town Barrie amenities and nightlife and the bay. (within walking distance)

Higly recommend.
