Glancing through the other reviews posted prior to mine I'm in agreement with almost all the comments, with the exception of Lynn B's complaint of the portion sizes. To be fair perhaps it was an off night, which could happen to the best places. My wife & I have dined at Il Buco many times over the past six years for romantic occassions and also with groups of friends, on each visit we have left fully satiated and promising to return again soon. Il Buco has been our absolute favourite for a long time, always offering a reasonable price for excellent fare and reasonably priced wine list. Bon appetite.

Sunday evening dinner with out of town friends should have been a convivial finale to our visitor's weekend. View from the lakeside table was beautiful, service was friendly and attentive. All 4 meals were tasty and very well presented. My fish entree served with potatoes and seasonal veg was excellent and filling. However the portion sizes on the pasta dishes, manicotti and lasagne, that my husband and 2 our friends ordered were miniscule, more suitable to a child's portion or an appetizer than an adult meal Considering the price, I strongly recommend a drastic increase in size to make this an entree worthy of the name. Since the choice of restaurant was mine, I felt embarrassed. I had been on 2 previous occasions for lunch and a Barrielicious dinner so was unprepared for this unpleasant surprise.Your food is excellent don't be so stingy! Lynn

I have been here before but just getting around to reviewing now. We were there this evening for an early dinner. When we arrived we almost had the place to ourselves-it was quiet and comfortable. As they get busier it gets fairly noisy and the tables are close together so at times it may feel like the table beside you is dining with you. The menu could use a little more creativity, but that being said there are some lovely staples on there. The homemade gnocchi was delicious as was the grilled calamari. The homemade cheesecake was incredible!
A great view of the bay, good food and service and a range of prices (pasta in the $15-20 range and meat entrees for $22+). If you are looking for a quiet romantic spot this may not meet your needs. If you use the online reservation tool they will call you to confirm receipt of your booking-a nice service. Request a table with a view if you can.

Had lunch here last week with a friend, it was late so the restaurant was not busy. Inside the decor is modern and bright. The waiter was on the ball, witty but did not try to be our "friend", he was great. Try the Beef Carpaccio appetizer, it is a real treat. Can't wait to visit again.

After making confirmed reservations, we arrived to no recorded reservations and were told it happens alot. The server, obviously frazzled was inattentive and abrupt but service was plentiful for others (a local celebrity or two) who ordered, got served, comped drinks, paid the bill and left while we were still awaiting our entrees which when served were obviously warmed up. Water after asking twice for it came in mismatched glasses and was splashed on the table but instead of cleaning it up we got oh well, just like home. As we got tossed the bill after again asking twice, were told they were understaffed still without apology. Don't blame just this server along, because others experienced the same with other servers. Another diner told us this was their second chance after their first a few week previous when he was told the exact same thing. NO second chance here.
