Description: "Fun and relaxed service with a casual flair and exceptional food. Located on Yonge Street, close to the water and downtown core, this upscale restaurant features contemporary cuisine and an extensive wine and cocktail list in a casual but fine dining atmosphere. Barrie's only mixologist, Kevin, can create a drink to please any palate and desire. Beside their beautiful patio, there's an on-site garden where there's a good chance you see the chefs picking fresh veggies and herbs for your meal. Open for lunch 5 days a week and dinner for 7, they promise to provide a dining experience with such superior service and food that you will want to return soon. Reservations for lunch or dinner are always recommended...don't be surprised if they're full at lunch on a Wednesday! If you haven't been there at all or even in a while...call and make reservations. You just might find you have a new favourite spot in town."

“Great menu, great service, great food”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

A surprisingly great foodie find in Barrie ON! While the location doesn't offer a lot of curb appeal, the food and service make it worth going outside the trendy downtown core areas. Service was attentive, informed and friendly. Food and drinks came out timely and everything was really delicious. Baked scallops, calamari, steak special and lamb chops were fantastic. Portions are generous.

“Continues to be a great place!”
Reviewed July 31, 2012

This was my 3rd visit to the Urban Dish. With it being Barrielicious, I expected either smaller portions or lesser quality. I was pleasantly surprised - dinner was excellent; as good as my earlier visits. The service was very friendly and appropriately paced.
My only negative comment is that although the place was only 2/3 full, it was quite noisy. Maybe some soft furnishings or sound baffles would help.

“Good food, noisy atmosphere”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

We went during Barrilicious to take advantage of the great meal deal - tasty soup, salad or 4 large shrimp appetizer, a good assortment of main courses - lots of pasta and chicken, good portion of ribs and our steaks were tasty but a little tough and overseasoned. Desserts were delicious.

We asked to be moved to a table by the front window because our original location was too near the kitchen - although the cooks singing was charming, the sound of clanging dishes was too loud. We soon found out that the whole restaurant is rather noisy if busy and would recommend using the outside patio if available.

Parking is limited and you have to battle the people lining up for the Dairy Queen's drive through to get to the back of the building to get to the extra parking.

We thought the $9 glasses of house wine was too pricey for the quality. The service was meh - dishes weren't cleared prior to the next course being served and no one came by to ask if we needed more water etc.

I would only go back during the festival pricing.

lousy location re; parking shared with DQ; but once inside, nice atmosphere, great food, and good service. Expensive but worth a visit during Barrielicious.

“Under Done”
Reviewed June 27, 2012

I rounded up this rating from 2.4 to 3 as my wife was reasonably happy with her meal.
In my case, the chicken (yes chicken) was way underdone - half of it being bright pink.
As well, the potatoes were under-cooked - somewhat hard in spots.
I also found it to be expensive for pretty much standard fare - the cheapest true entre (pasta aside) being 22$.
I certainly wouldn't expect to pay premium prices for an experience like this.
