Owner description: Outdoor recreation is a way of life every month of the year, from ice fishing and snowmobiling in the winter to boating and swimming in the summer.

We stopped by Old Woman's Cove just outside Salut Ste. Marie. It was beautiful and we stopped in the winter so I can only imagine how beautiful it will be in the summer. We plan and heading back this summer for sure. The water was so clear

I would like to secng the review of Reggio27. I made the drive in July, so missed the fall colors, but the scenery is spectacular in any color. The pictographs at Lake Superior Provincial Park are worth the hike, but are faint, so be prepared to look carefully for some of them. The hike to them is a little tricky, but the trickiest part is walking along the rocky edge of the lake to view the pictographs. Thankfully, there is a chain that you can hold on to. Caution is advised! Loved the remoteness of this drive. Just remember that there are few rest areas with restrooms.
My favorite memory is of coming over a hill several hours west of Wawa through a cut in the rocks made by the higway, and seeing nothing but the lake before me. It felt as if the road was dropping away beneath me. It took my breath away. As it turned out, the lake was several miles away, but for an instant I thought I was driving into it.

Driving north on Highway 17 from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, one encounters a 120 mile stretch of wilderness highway that practically defines the word 'scenic'! Lake Superior is so vast and it looks like an inland, freshwater ocean. There are numerous vistas with scenic turnouts along the way where one can soak in the beauty and capture it with a camera. During the fall colours season (late September and into October), these ancient and rugged hills are carpetted with a rainbow tapestry of beautiful colours; a truly memorable sight on a sunny day with the blue skies above and the sparkling waters of Superior to the west! Inside Lake Superior Provincial Park, take the turn off to see the remarkable Indian Pictographs that were drawn onto a sheer and steep cliff that drops right into the Lake. The hike into this site is challenging in parts so watch your step. Along the way, the trail passes a wide crevice that opens out to the lake with a huge, elephant-sized rock wedged into it. Further north, Old Woman Bay, not far south of Wawa, is definitely, a must stop spot too!
