We recently returned from another fabulous week a Rockwood Resort. Our family of five has been staying at Rockwood for the past twelve years. The location is absolutely gorgeous - a sheltered bay within a bay, on Georgian Bay with small (granite) islands peeking out of the water at various points. The views just cannot be surpassed! Every cottage has a fabulous vantage point (we have stayed in 6 different cottages on the property). There is a spacious sandy beach, docks to walk out to, turtles to seek out, a great foot bridge to walk across, plus a very spacious back beach on the other end of their property. We have enjoyed many campfires on the beach, shared with other renters. The cottages are spotless, and also, the grounds and gardens are beautifully and meticulously maintained. In the fall, the colours are spectacular and it is a photographer’s dream location. The cottages are very comfortable and cosy, with a rustic charm. We usually rent No. 2 on the beach, which has a wood-burning fireplace, which keeps us very cosy for our annual Thanksgiving weekends. Leslie, Reima and their daughter Ariel are always extremely helpful and pleasant to talk to. Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us!

We came up for a family holiday requiring three cottages. The cottages were spotless and had everything you would need (except food & fishing essentials) for a great holiday. The fishing was excellent within 500 m of the docks. The rental boats were great. Caught pike, bass and perch in great numbers. The name Rockwood should let us know that the cottages are built on rock and for seniors you would want to make sure you have a cottage that does not require climbing up a smooth but nonetheless rocky slope to get to the front door. Their website could probably be updated. They did not allow campfires which were listed as activities. We probably would not have considered this resort if we had known as it was an important item on our check list--campfires were allowed at an adjacent resort so it wasn't a fire issue. It would also have been helpful if they had listed most of the items in the kitchen. Because we were unsure, we brought many items that were already in the kitchen. There is an great sandy beach and swings for the kids, but again the rocks had to be maneuvered. All cottages had decks with BBQ. Again website said bring briquettes and when arrived the BBQs were propane. Inside of BBQ not cleanable, bring roasting pans for cooking on. For younger groups this is an excellent setting and Georgian Bay can be accessed from Sand Bay for those serious fisherpeople. Leslie & Reima were excellent hosts and most helpful.

Room Tip: Enquire about access to cottages to avoid having to climb the rocks to get to front door which could...

I have been staying there for many years.I have been a guest there as early as May and as late as November.I have stayed in almost all of the cottages.I have never been disappointed in any of the accomodations. My wife has been with me on many of our trips, and she has enjoyed every stay. This is COTTAGE country.I have stayed at other places in the area since 1973 and this place has proven to be the most enjoyable spot. The scenery is fantastic, the fishing is good, but the thing that makes my 500 mile drive worthwhile is the way Leslie,Reima, and Ariel treat all of thier guests.Their hospitality just can`t be surpassed! I hope to return to Rockwood as long as I am able to make the drive.

Room Tip: All of the cottages have something special to offer.Every one is different, every one I`ve stayed in...

Had a wonderful time. Leslie the owner is a wonderful host and is always around willing to assist guests.

I rented a 2 bedroom cottage, the same one I have been renting for several years. It was so nice to just relax, sit around and go fishing. If you like fishing this is the place to be.

Thank you Leslie, Reima, and Ariel for the wonderful vacation

Room Tip: There is not a bad cottage in the resort. There are 11 cottages and all have a wonderful view of Ge...

I spent this past Thanksgiving weekend there with friends. This area was where this family has spent many decades enjoying the beauty. How VERY disappointing were we all with the cottage we stayed in. The mattresses were NOT fit to sleep on. We had to drive into Parry Sound and purchase air mattresses. The cottages stove did work but the dials are so badly worn that you have no idea if you are cooking on high, low, or if you have turn the stove off. Not a very safe situation. The smoke detector didn't have a cover on it. There were cob webs hanging from the lights in the livingroom. The livingroom furniture's cushions had absolutely no life left in them. You were sitting on the plywood. When I emailed them to tell them how disappointed I was with the bedding and such they have not responded. The scenery was incredible. So saying that, would I go back to this resort, absolutely NOT!!! Would I recommend this resort, absolutely NOT!!!!. Would I recommend going to this area in the fall, absolutely. The area is full of breath taking colour.

Room Tip: My suggestion would be to ask for a written guarantee that you will be getting a cottage that has no...

We are sorry to hear your feedback about the cottage, and a bit surprised, since cottage 8 is one of our most requested and popular units because of it's size and large deck with wide open views of the water. We have upgraded the mattresses and addressed the issue you mentioned with the stove.

We apologise that the cottage was not up to our usual standards of cleanliness, and that the smoke detector was uncovered. (Sometimes guests tamper with the detectors but it certainly should have been checked and replaced before being rented to your group.)

We hope that you might give us another chance when you visit the beautiful Parry Sound area in future.

This is a beautiful resort on a nicest part of Georgian Bay. It sits up high with the cottages nestled into the rugged rock face overlooking the Bay. Gorgeous is the apt word. There are beautiful white pine, canoes and other boats, and clean simple cottages. The hosts are amiable and helpful and very friendly. This is a dog friendly facility. The main beach is well kept and available for swimming. The side beach is where the dogs may run. It is a surprisingly roomy property.
My friend and I went there to paint the scenery and we were not disappointed. In fact, we were pleasantly surprised by the charm and ambiance of the venue and we liked it so much we painted it from several angles. It made for fine paintings, and a fine vacation too. Thanks Rockwood.

Room Tip: All rooms are great.

This was our third annual visit with my extended family (8 adults and 6 kids), and we love it more every year. The location is lovely. The cabins are situated in a wooded area around a sand beach, docks for boats and fishing, broad rocks, and woods. The kids love the beach, with the playground and sand toys, and the grown ups appreciated the chairs and umbrella. The cabins had everything we needed, were in good repair, and had plenty of room. Each one is different and has it's own charm. It's a nice place to bring your boat, or you can rent one. We did both. It's close enough to the town of Parry Sound for a nice day trip for shopping. We love coming and making making wonderful memories. It's really perfect for large families, since you can spread out a bit but still have lots of places to spend time together.

Room Tip: Are you looking for more space, a big screen porch, a deck overlooking the water? Ask Reima for the...
