We always ask the locals where to eat. When we found ourselves in a Canadian Tire, we asked the young woman running the register. She suggested Phil's Seafood, just down the block. Then the young man at the next checkout chimed in that we had to go to Phil's. It was unanimous when a third employee gave me a slip of paper with the directions to Phil's. And after our dinner at Phil's, I couldn't agree with them more. Three of us ordered the pan-fried haddock. OMG! It was amazing. Fresh and delicious and a huge serving. I also liked that Phil's offers the opportunity to choose different sides like a large salad, chips, or veggies. We each ordered the salad as our side and got one order of fries for the table. Still couldn't finish our meals. Stay away from the waterfront and find Phil's Seafood on Quinpool.

We love the fish and chips at Phil's. Prices, quality and portions are great. And breaded fish is so much better than battered! The people and service is great too - will definitely be back!

Lobster was in season when we dropped in for lunch on our way to the Valley, so it was part of the fresh chowder ! Nice light cream broth, no flour! My partner loved his fish and chips and the service is great. Since the rest of the clientele was local, we knew we were in a good spot. For a good lunch this is it.

The fish was really good, but the breading wasn't; batter would be better.
The fish chowder was delicious; would be better with light cream instead of milk.
The hand-cut fries were also great and the price was very good; $7. for a small order and $10. For a large order.
Start using batter and you'll have a winner.

Visited Phil's for the first time in a couple of years where I recently moved back to Dartmouth. The fish & chips are possibly the best in the HRM area where the fish is fresh and lightly battered complimented with home cut french fries and coleslaw. Service was very friendly and efficient and the prices are very reasonable. Will return for more!
