Food is good for pub grub. The seafood meals they have are tasty but some can be a little over priced. Atmosphere is ok as well, good views of the harbour. Staff is great and knowledgeable. If you are going try the lobster roll.

While on a cruise excursion, our lighthouse tour included a lobster lunch. Overall, sooo disappointed with the food and service. Great location, great views but the lobster was overdone, butter off tasting and the seafood chowder they were so proud of was cold and runny. (Get a roux please!) If you must go, don't eat here. Order a beer, wait 20 minutes for it to arrive at your table and enjoy the view. For lunch, walk down the boardwalk a few 100 feet and enjoy any street vendor available....

Stopped at Murphy's for late lunch after going to the nearby Maritime Museum. After much thought my wife and I decided to share a lobster roll and each got a bowl of seafood chowder. We could not have made a better decision. The lobster roll was fantastic and the bun appeared to be homemade. The roll was filled with large pieces of lobster with just a bit of mayonnaise to hold it together. The seafood chowder was more soup like rather than being thick. It didn't matter since it was filled with shrimp, lobster, haddock, salmon, scallops, and pieces of potatoes. It was superb. Our waitress was efficient and attentive to our needs and was a delight. The view from the restaurant was spectacular and we sat inside. Since this will probably our only visit to Halifax I will have to savor in my memory the lobster roll and chowder.
