“Lower Deck, Clayton Park”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

I am a fan of the Lower Deck downtown Halifax and am an even bigger fan of the Clayton Park version (especially in winter). It has a great atmosphere, excellent service and a diverse and tasty menu! Not to mention the drinks. The house wine was just ok, but it is a pub after all. The decor is modern (brand new) with lots of wood furnishings and there is lots of room to move around (not like on the main level of the downtown version). We were there on a Friday evening and there was live music, Dwight D'Eon and Adam Driscoll and they were awesome and played rock with a celtic twist (guitar, mandolin and fiddle emersed). There is a fairly big dance floor (also absent in the downtown LD) so you can cut some serious rug (or hardwood) when the bands play later on the weekends. The menu has everything from wings to nachos to salmon and haddock...something for everyone and the price is reasonable. Go and enjoy!

“Once Great, Still Good”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

The Lower Deck was once the core for a night out in Halifax. It hosted the best matinees and had the liveliest crowds in the city. The place has quieted down a bit but the food is still very good and the service is still cranky in a fun way. The selection of beers taps is confusing and missing an important Canadian beer. The Saturday Matinees are still a great way to kick off a day of saluting good times.

“Great lunch”
Reviewed December 1, 2012 via mobile

Popped over from the marriott next door, the pork ciabatta was excellent and my wife enjoyed her dockside steak sandwich. Saturday lunch we had the place nearly to ourselves, a convenient and tasty dining experience.
