We had to extend our stay because of travel delays, but I would have happily stayed longer. Spacious and spotless room with a responsive and quiet heating system. Excellent breakfast with exceptionally cheerful staff. 24 hour hot coffee/tea. I was surprised to find when I requested a taxi for in city travel that it was a complimentary service. The hotel is located within walking distance to local attractions and the bus terminal at Scotia Square mall. Immediately opposite the hotel is a pedway covered walkway that will take you two blocks downtown in inclement weather to the shops. I will stay here again.

Room tip: We had views of the citadel in the back.

My husband and I always stay at Hampton Inn all over North America! We enjoy the comfortable beds and wonderful breakfast! Unfortunately this visit was quite disappointing for us. So many additional charges we have never seen before. $2.50 for a small bag of chips and $2.50 for a small can of Coke.( not even a 750ml bottle) and then the $20 a month for parking which they did not mention to us at check in but apparently it was in our email confirmation ( who reads the confirmation unless you need it at check in) We will not stay at Halifax Hampton Inn again!

Thank you for submitting your comment to us. Just to avoid confusion the parking fee is not 20 dollars a month but 19.95 per day. All hotels in downtown Halifax are charging for parking and the positive side is that we are the most affordable among all major hotels in Halifax.

Booked my stay on Expedia.Payed in full. When we checked in, we had to fill out a form for the pet that we have with us, but no mention was made whatsoever about any other deposits, and the guy never asked for a credit card.In fact, I called ahead that morning to make sure I didn't need anything in advance as far as a deposit, and was told I would be billed.

Received a call from the front desk stating my card was declined, and long story short, they had my boyfriends card for the deposit, and he wasn't even staying with us.I then went down to the front desk to explain the situation and was told I could pay the deposit when I got paid, since I was checking out that day anyway, Went down this morning to add time to my stay, as the ceiling in my apartment isn't repaired yet as I was told it would be and I can't go back yet, and was told I would need to pay $152 for the room, plus the deposit of $250.. No exceptions made for their own gaffe in giving me misinformation, so now I have to find another hotel in short notice, and my daughter and I might end up in the street. Not a pleasant experience.Someone needs to make this right.

Thank you for making everyone aware of your situation. I don't know yet what to do but will find out this morning. Most hotels are following the same policies with third party bookings as well as credit cards. I will follow-up on this situation.

We were at the Hampton for one night and it was a great experience. Staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was huge and spotless, a great view of Halifax; a warm pool and breakfast was delicious. Within walking distance of a variety of restaurants and the downtown area. Definitely worth the stay.

Booked in for two nights (21`jan-01feb16) after overnight Viarail train from Montreal.
Very friendly staff, good rotating morning breakfast, 1 and a half block walk from #320 bus from/to airport. Halifax is a very hilly city!!!!! Pool. Area lacks restaurants but with short walk.

Room tip: most restaurants are located in city centre and harbour side. steep walk down to wharf -- would suggest taxi or 6 block walk back UP!
